    Spelljammer Unconverted Spelljammer creatures

I've just spoken to Danastes (the Shattered Fractine webmaster) and have both good and bad news. The good news is that he has conversions for Golem, Radiant, Stargazer, Neogi: Undead Old Master and Blazoid. The bad news is that Shattered Fractine is going offline. I'll post again when I find...

I could be pursuaded either way too. I was just hoping their would be a clue in the blurb.

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

This is an interesting ability, but the name doesn't match what it does. Something called "Distraction" should do something like force people to roll concentration checks. It souldn't make people feel sick. Something like "Nausiating Smell" or "Revolting Apperance" should do that sort of thing.

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off giants and their kin

Bosk Giant clerics? I can't remember if you need to cover religion (or clerics) for giants. You include it in some conversions, but not others. I brought up Zeboim (the evil DL nature god) earlier, but I think my comments got lost in all the other activity. I can't see a god of jungles or...

    Planescape Converting Planescape monsters

The Ethereal Plane has no gravity, so all creatures that can swim should be able to fly there (assuming they don't die from a lack of water to breath). I don't know if you have seen film of penguins underwater, but they are said to fly through the water. I'd say this creature does the opposite...

Converting Creatures from Other Campaign Settings

Weird. :erm: I suppose that the Jakandor bloodthorn might have been taken from Planescape. The Mighty Grubbmeister (Jeff Grubb) worked on both, so he might have copied it over. Is there anything in the blurb of the Planescape version to indicate why they bumped up the intellegence over the MC...

Converting "generic setting" second edition monsters

The only issue I have with you increasing the water production of the fish is that the original blurb says that the fish can't turn off its water production and eventually kills itself: This reminds me (in some ways) of the way that the teeth of rodents grow forever. If a rat stops wearing its...

Converting Creatures from Other Campaign Settings

Hmm. Was the old school version of the other bloodthorn mindless or semi-intelligence? If one drops down, I can understand the other dropping down. But if there was originally an intelligence divide between the two bloodthorn types then maybe that should continue. (Maybe this plant is meant to...

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

Fair enough. So I've gone down a logical dead end. But something isn't right about these guys. So they have a humanoid form (that perhaps we haven't seen) and the hybrid form is based on a combination of that and mice. But you are using a dire mouse as the base animal and that doesn't fit in...

    Converting True Dragons

Bump! ...or should I say... ...wing buffet! <boom - boom - tish> :p The Tripping Tail Sweep (Ex) doesn't have a DC yet: "An arack's tail sweep deals no damage, but affected creatures must make DC x Reflex saves to or be knocked prone."

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off giants and their kin

The "whittled" version was originally supposed to be an "improvement", so I think that if the 3rd edition replacement is carved from a slightly bigger branch it would fit in with the spirit of the original weapon. (I think this also means that community leaders should be both extra intellegent...

Less damage, huh? Would it be dodgy to make them mastercrafted gargantuan morningstars?:]

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Thanks for the clarification. I suppose the designers were thinking about the internal damage caused by the flaming liquid, but the magic that brings you back from the dead would need to negate that to stop you dying again. I don't see a need for this to have effects beyond the stage where you...

Converting Al-Qadim and Oriental Adventures creatures

Do you think the chitinous shell of the Sartani should count as treasure? You could probably get it off of a dead sartani and use it in exactly the same ways as the shells they shed every year. Apart from that minor question, I think this beastie is done. Nice work.

    Wiki challenge!

You can't legally reuse OGC (in large quantities) unless you do it under the OGL. Without the OGL you fall back on fair use, which includes extracts. I would say that using the OGC from an entire book would constitute more than an extract and would leave ENWorld open to being done for copyright...

Negative level mechanic? I'm not sure how this would apply to these constructs. I'm not saying it won't work, but I'm lost. Please tell me more. I don't want to hobble the Burning Zombie, just make it "return to base" on a regular basis. I think that resting time (as per a spellcaster) within...

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

...and... Ug! We did miss something. These creatures can't possibly be "normal" lycanthropes. Normal lycanthropes are created by starting with a humanoid creature and adding in an animal. These creatures start with an animal form (a mouse) and move towards a humanoid form. They are more like...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Sounds like we are on the same page here. I'm not sure if everyone will agreee, but to me it makes more sense for Burning Zombies to be an extension of the Carnivorous Wall. (In a way, they remind me of the Shivak creatures that serve The Spelljammer.) You know, looking at the Burining Zombies...

    Converting World of Greyhawk monsters

You might want to do something with this stuff: (The "...share all of their accumulated wealth." bit is already done.) How about adding a sentence to each of these two paragraphs: Maybe something like this (my suggestions are in bold): Most grivelings make their lairs within the stone...
