    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5e 2024 Monk Handbook

As a counter-argument, you want to hit lv5 mainly for Extra Attack... but Nick gets you that as early as lv2! Classes with lv1 damage riders to go with Nick are Fighter (TWF style) and Rogue (sneak attack, skills) TWF style is only going to benefit the one Nick attack (eventually +5), while...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 PHB errata thread

But... all of that is already listed under the entry for the Attack action... Does draw/stow get mentioned somewhere else too? Nick does apply for the juggling, because it makes the extra attack become a part of the Attack action. So 10 sheath/wields is correct... but you also have the free...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

I dunno, you're the one insisting it has to be just the action economy, rather than Ranger itself being a crowded mess where Hunter's Mark hits it on both the action and the concentration front. FF is not a great feature, no. But here you have two Ranger players telling you that it worked for...

I just told you I'd pay a bonus action for concentration-less Zephyr, but sure, go on believing what you want.

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

Not really. The main problem really is just that if someone tells me they're point-buying and gives their class, I can pretty much tell what their stats are going to be. That's just a lack of variety that makes you question why there even are stats in the first place, if not to create variety...

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

    12 isn't a dump stat. And our options aren't just having 13 in everything, or 15 8 15 8 15 8 anyway...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Well, that matters because of the busy Ranger concentration space. Cost of concentration + bonus action is just more than concentration alone. This should not be hard to see. I would also be alright paying a bonus action for free uses of Zephyr Strike without concentration, kind of a deal.

D&D General Multiclassing Shouldn't be Treated as the Default

While I kind of hate multiclassing, and it goes against the whole idea of a class-based system... In 5e, martial classes easily have no choices to make after lv3 if they don't multiclass, so it's kind of necessary for them, just to feel like there is a decision point every level.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

'without bonus action' FF beats HM in just how free it is.

Good that you mentioned that. It's very solid now, basically a poor man's Shield spell.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Yes. It does nothing to the concentration issue, but you can just reactively change that to FF when it seems worthwhile, or if you don't want to commit any real resources to a fight. It's actually free, because it doesn't require you to stop and spend bonus actions, cutting into whatever else...

D&D 5E (2024) DMs what do you think of the new PHB?

The skill of looking for the highest number on your sheet, and then hammering it against a wall? I think I'd rather play with unskilled people, but who understand what NO means.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

It would still be of more use than a Hunter's Mark we were not going to cast anyway. Free castings of Find Traps wouldn't exactly rock the world either, even though it's free.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Yep. I also often found myself with spell slots left over (hey there, backpack full of Goodberries, no matter the level), because it was not worth it to switch concentration once I'd committed to a spell already.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Which is meaningless if HM is worse for how we actually played. What part of this made you think that we ran around spamming Favored Foe on every tiny minion until we ran out of charges for it?

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

Only if your primary idea is to always HM. My experience (though ending in the teen levels) mirrors Ecmo's - I sometimes dropped my concentration (Entangle had done most of its job) to take Favored Foe advantage of a crit I landed on a major enemy. HM would not let me do that - it would've...

D&D 5E (2024) DMs what do you think of the new PHB?

I can see people trying this, but I'm there to move things along, not care about their +5% chance at something. You tell them no once, then it's auto-fail and move on. Sounds harsh written like that, but I just... if you're not getting paid for it, you're presumably playing with friends, and...
