If I understand it correctly, this creators also work as freelancers for wizards, either on the design or the media/marketing part of the game, and get a lot of backlash for supporting wotc. In this case I think Wotc helping them with resources similar to those given to employees makes sense to me.

I connect mana more closely to magic, and a lot of people don't want the monk to be tied to arcane flavors. But it could work too.

It does. A lot of eberron fans give more weight and attention to what keith says about Eberron that what wotc says. And being a setting with a fixed metaplot, it’s pretry easy to ignore anything they publish that we don’t like.

This discussion is so “funny” when I look at book prices here in Brazil. Nowadays a new hardcover is costing between 20-25% of the minimum wage. It’s pretty much a luxury hobby.
