Yeah... This is one of the main reasons I'm happy they say they are moving away form using editions as identifiers for updates to the game. I'm reeeeeally tired of the whole discussion about classifying editions.

okay, I think we just look at this differently then (wich is completely fine). I usually don't buy things in the first printing because I expect there to have some balancing, grammar or printing error, and wait for the version with errata.

Okay, I can relate to this. Just, I don’t think the tweets from designers that were a trend before the pandemic are really errata, eotc certainly doesn’t treat them like that. About the errata bejng needlessly confusong, I agree it’s confusing, that’s the nature of catching mistakes in printed...

I get why to many erratas are bad, that was a bad thing that happened in 4e… but why are we saying that errata existing at all is bad? Why a pre-errata version would be inherently better? I think I missed that part of the discourse.

Those were the comparisons the D&D executive producer used when asked about the subject. They never promised a completelly new edition, they are marketing it as an update. The only one saying otherwise is Kobold Press
