My post is not based in community perception but in my personal experience DMing for rangers in exploration/hexcrawl based campaigns. By raw: "Your group can’t become lost except by magical means." There is nothing about re-rolling, you cannot become lost.

And when you are in the terrain, exploration is an auto-win in a lot of situations.

Okay, I understand you now, thanks for responding. I like most os the things about the 2014 ranger, but I have a big problem with how it makes almost any non magical exploration scene trivial when the PC is on their chosen terrais. Playing ToA I had to weaken the class a lot for it to not ruin...

I just wish they remove some signature class spells (like the smite spells and find steed) from the spell lists and gave them to their classes as a feature. The way it is being done in the current playtests really hurts the halfcasters, who receive their signature spells later then other classes.

The way it was worded could be understood as the smite being a separate damage roll, and so, not affected by the crit.

I'm also not saying they should be a full surge value, but they should use it as a base. A fixed amount of HP per potion is really bad for the role that most wants to be hit and endure the battle.

I think the leader's powers will always be better than a healing potion, and costing a healing surge prevents the 50 cheap level 1 potions scenario doesn't it?

Yes, and I think the show tries to paint them in an ambiguous way. I find them to be very machiavelian. “It doesn’t matter how an what we are doing, as long as it reaches our altruistic goals.”

I disagree completelly that the show needed more infected. Everytime one or more infected appeared in scene someone got infected (or worse). That makes them a lot more dangerous than the normal cannon fodder zombie in walking dead or other shows. You don't need a lot of infected, you need...

I wouldn't put it past the people who do guerrilla attacks in the middle of civilians, station teenagers in badly swept for infected malls to construct pipe bombs....

yeah... and it was a FIGHT to get them to make an artificer class for Eberron.... They tried it as a wizard subclass and that was just bad.

You are the one with experience here, and sure, it was not realistic, but I think they tried to move away from the common trope of this in the show. They are in a really confined space with long weapons, joel frustrates them by stoping a lot of times before and turns around before jumping the guy...
