I agree with you here. That's a reason for my fear of them nerfing cantrips and invocations to keep pact magic. because they will not keep it as is, they will have to make it more frequent, and for that to work they'd have to drop some other feature of the class. I if we keep it a half-caster...

I also don't see why, but they make some confusing decisions because of game balance sometimes...

I like the pacts, I like the invocations, I like eldritch blast, those all play really well and are what define the warlock to me. The only draw back is how pact magic works today.

The channel divinity comparison is cool. I'm not opposed to loosing the half-caster if you made pact magic recharging independent from short rests and more frequent. But I really love the other warlock features the new warlock gets (except for the stinker level 18 one), I'd really hate to see...

But I like how the warlock plays, that's what I'm saying. I just never saw pact magic as the only/best way to do what the warlock wants to do. I find it punishing, DM dependant, it forces the whole group to make short rests... A lot of us don't think that the warlock shouldn't be defined by pact...

I don't really like this argument. A lot of people like the warlock but don't like the 2014 pact magic. (me, I'm a lot of people)

I've always seen the warlock as the well built arcane archer. (except for having EB instead of a bow)

I think that restriction should be only for 6th+ level spells

Balancing for multiclassing is waaay out of my league. But I’m sure there is a feasible math for it

what if they got the spell progression from a full caster but spell slot volume of a half caster until 5th level spells? would it make to many dead levels? would it be too powerfull with all the invocations and pact cantrips?

I think the main problem people have is spell progression, because in volume you have straight up more spells right now. So maybe making the warlock progression a little faster? something like a 2/3 caster?

I always loved the warlock. I like the flavour, I like that it can be a Gish, I like that it was really customizeable, I like Eldritch Blast, was one of my favourite overall. With all that said I loved the change to half-caster. I get that it makes the warlock more in line with other casters...
