D&D 5E (2014) Tell me about some non-core/3rd party Druid Circles

Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn has the Circle of the Blighted subclass. Some Druids seek to protect a natural site of power, but sometimes that land becomes corrupted. Twisted by their connection to the unhallowed territory, they come to embody the defiled nature they serve, exalting in the...

D&D General 7 Golden Rules of Dungeon Master Etiquette

This has been the biggest hurdle for my campaign. Usually D&D groups will meet on a previously scheduled day and time (every Wednesday from 6pm - 9pm, for instance). But my group consists of my daughter and her two best friends. So we play whenever both of her friends are over at the same...

D&D General "I'd like to run (or play in) an all ___________ campaign." (+)

At this point, based on my players’ tendencies, I think I’d settle for an all non-elf campaign.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on 5th…

Yes, on page 99 there are Racial Traits for Gnolls. As a side note, one thing I DO NOT miss from 3e are the complications from Level Adjustments (At least Gnolls were only a +1).

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue's Been in an Awkward Place, And This Survey Might Be Our Last Chance to Let WotC Know.

I love how, in the thread about Rogues, we're arguing about Intimidation (STR) checks. But in the thread about Barbarians, Druids, and Monks, we're arguing about Rogues picking locks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock Pact of the Talisman--What Am I Missing?

Yes, Initiative is merely a Dexterity-based ability check. But the Pact of the Talisman specifically says, “when the wearer FAILS an ability check …..”. You can’t really “fail” an initiative roll.

WotC Roll For Combat: Hasbro Downgraded. Toys Rotting on the Shelves

I hate this saying. You can very much hate the players, because they are willingly partaking in the game. If they stopped playing the game, the game would no longer exist. “Don’t hate the player, hate the game,” always struck me as people knowingly doing something detestable, but refusing to...

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

Interesting. I would have expected to see some pigs in that picture, based on other people’s results.

    D&D 5E (2014) Snow-Sweeping/Clearing Cantrip

Wait, you're in Boston?!?!? Could you come shovel my driveway next Sunday if we get snow?

    D&D 5E (2014) Snow-Sweeping/Clearing Cantrip

I could see Gust working on light, fluffy snow, but as a New Englander, I can assure you it won’t work on heavy, wet snow.

    D&D 5E (2014) Snow-Sweeping/Clearing Cantrip

You could use Mage Hand, but it would probably take a long time. I was looking for a way to use Druidcraft, but the only conceivable way would be the first bullet point to predict the weather in conjunction with Teleport to go somewhere warmer.

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Sacred Flame is one of those spells that I just simply stopped using in Solasta and BG3 because it feels like enemies always make the save. A trusty old warhammer or mace seems to connect more frequently, and I can still toss out a Healing Word when I need to.

    D&D General Dragon Talk?

I also just realized that the last “new” article on DDB was Monday, the same day as the layoffs were announced. I’m hoping that is just coincidence, since I’ve only seen two names on the layoff list so far that worked there (Amy Dallen and David Hartless).

    D&D General Dragon Talk?

I used to love listening to Dragon Talk every week, but back in July they mentioned they were going on vacation and would be back in September. Now we’re in December and there still hasn’t been a new episode released. I didn’t see Greg Tito or Shelly Mazzanoble on the list of laid off...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue's Been in an Awkward Place, And This Survey Might Be Our Last Chance to Let WotC Know.

A simple way to add DPR to the rogue class would be to give them Extra Attack at level 5. Barbarians, Fighters, Monks, Paladins, and Rangers (ya know, the other martial classes) all get it, so why not Rogues? The actual damage from the attack won’t add a ton of damage, but having a second...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue's Been in an Awkward Place, And This Survey Might Be Our Last Chance to Let WotC Know.

How do these numbers look when comparing just the base class, instead of including the subclasses? (In case a particular subclass is imbalanced and distorting the numbers)

D&D 5E (2024) How to answer the WOTC playtest survey....

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: they mislabeled the names of the response choices. Rather than Very Dissatisfied/Dissatisfied/Satisfied/Very Satisfied, they should have gone with something like Dissatisfied/Needs a Rewrite/Needs Minor Tweaks/Satisfied. That way, responders will know...

    D&D 5E (2024) Worldbuilding Differences between 5e and 5.5?

I always thought elves were the same height as humans. But then I read The Death Gate Cycle and the elves in that world were actually taller than humans.
