I'll give up my gaming consoles, literally, when Nintendo starts publishing their first-party titles on PC.

I've already said as much in this very thread, but as much as tomato ketchup deserves more respect as a sauce and sauce additive... banana ketchup is superior in every possible way, and some impossible ones.

D&D General What "Rating" Do You Prefer Your D&D

Pretty solid PG-13 (except for language) when I'm running, though I will lean into some "soft R" territory based on what players choose to pay attention to. I'm capable of diving deep into Robocop and Hellraiser territory if I'm 100% certain that 100% of my players are 100% down for it, but if...

    D&D General Favorite BG3 Build?

Warlock 4 (fey/tome), rogue 2, bard 4 (lore). As close as you can get to a one-man adventuring party and is compatible with just about every combination of race and background. I tend to favor gith for aesthetic (think a young Kate Mulgrew as the sexy gremlin from Gremlins 2) reasons and medium...

D&D General Character named after someone more famous.

"If the name 'Ducky' does not strike sufficient fear into your hearts, I have done you a grave disservice by allowing you to know me thus. My name is Ibrahim Alexander Makmendie Drakul MacDuck of the Clan MacDuck, known as the Fireangel and known today as Vacuum Breather, bairn of Samus the...

D&D General Why Do You Think Wizards Are Boring?

Probably already been said a million times already, but it's this. The problem is that a well-played Wizard-- a Wizard that plays to a Wizard's strengths-- doesn't overcome challenges, he bypasses them. A Wizard's primary class feature is his collection of specific "i win" buttons and a Wizard's...

D&D 5E (2024) Class spell lists and pact magic are back!

That's the bitter irony of convincing your entire customer base that you're selling them the greatest product ever made: you make it very difficult to sell them anything else. This is the biggest thing that bit them in the ass moving from Three to Four, including their misguided marketing, and...

Super Arts, by whatever title they're called in a given game, make every game they're in worse to play. They are, in fact, the only facet of fighting games that has been getting progressively worse, while every other part of them has been getting better for years.

Currently watching The Longest Promise, which also stars one of the leads from The Untamed in a very different role. Word of Honor, Who Rules the World, Ashes of Love... all on Netflix and I haven't scratched the surface of either their whole selection or the ones I've already marked for My...

The output of fantasy television from China in the past few years has been breathtaking and most Chinese fantasy is more "D&D" than anything that's ever had the D&D logo on it, even including the 80s cartoon and the recent movie. Some things are subjective preferences, and some things are...

    (IC) PLANESCAPE: Intrigue

Kachilk'cha reluctantly abandons the alcove-- and the possible patients within-- and moves to observe the plague doctor and make what observations she can.

D&D General Why is "OSR style" D&D Fun For You?

Entire time I played 2e across 3-4 different groups, everyone used 4d6k3 arranged. Every time. Did not even start experimenting with other methods in 3.X until after Unearthed Arcana came out.

Zakhara, Kara-Tur, and even Maztica would have been better settings if they hadn't been shoehorned into the Forgotten Realms. The latter, too, Forgotten Realms would have been better without its reality-warping attempt to do a Very Special Episode about colonialism.

    (IC) PLANESCAPE: Intrigue

Kachilk'cha immediately lost interest in the illusionary figure and turned away from the building to find the corporeal sick and wounded. She started-- Dammit. She stopped. To Orris and Izek and Grim, she intoned, "Man in window is being not being. Not for helping, useless and probably being...

Well, in the given example of a small child... you're not really going to get anything out of playing D&D with a small child except playing D&D with a small child and your carefully curated setting and your painstakingly assembled themes are going to get chewed up and spat out. There's only two...

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

There's a problem with conflating "difficulty" with "lethality". In video games, lethality is equivalent to difficulty because the game will force you to replay it again, and again-- and again if necessary-- until you get it right. It's difficult but it isn't impactful because the only story the...

    (OOC) Planescape: Intrigue

Sorry for the delay of game. I'd been considering my response and then it just got lost in the stack.

    (IC) PLANESCAPE: Intrigue

Screeching and chittering with excitement, Kachilk'cha rushes into the burning plague district, looking for a patient to examine. If challenged, she might-- might-- remember to announce herself as a doctor, and that she's here to help.

D&D General Flip or Twist A D&D Cliche

Or you can go the other direction, and get rid of the "mage" classes: magical power doesn't just come from nowhere, and it doesn't come free. Goes against my stated interest in Charles Atlas Superpowers but it feels more authentic than atheist-rationalist wizards.

For me, it's Jupiter Hell. I don't know many hours I have on it officially, but they don't count the hours I've spent on beta testing or on my GOG copy. I've purchased 12 copies of the game and I'm still very happy with every penny. Street Fighter 6 is getting there for me.
