#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

CoC isn't about going insane in the face of unknowable badness. That is a common mistake made by those who have inexperience with the game. CoC is a game about going insane from understanding the universe. It's about how the progress of gaining knowledge and coming to understand reality isn't...

For The Love of Dinosaurs - Check Out The Intro To Cypher System's PREDATION!

I'm curious. I'll probably get it. I'm a bit of a sucker for the Cypher stuff. The book they did on love for Numenera is one of my favorites, simply because of how it treats the subject so seriously and yet so carefully. I'm kinda surprised Paizo hasn't done a book like it, focused on marriage...

Starfinder Operatives, Envoys, and Navasi: A Slew of STARFINDER Previews

These sound kinda Firefly-ish. Which isn't a bad thing; I think Firefly had a great set-up for an RPG PC crew and I am glad to see influences from it continue to make their way into gaming.

#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

There are several out there where racial issues do come up. Call of Cthulhu, for example, has had advice in the past for how to deal with the racism and sexism inherent to 1920s America when playing the game, including advice for how to maturely handle both topics without offending anyone. I...

O.L.D., The Medieval Fantasy WOIN Hardcover, Is Here!

May order. I already have the PDF. I'm kinda in awe of it. Design-wise, I like it better than the 5E main books.

#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

You're right. That's because #ExperimentalNanoGames wouldn't have been bringing politics into discussion to begin with. The idea these games at all allow people to consider these ideas without being tied to their emotional responses? One good, hard look at this very thread proves that is wrong...

D&D 5E (2014) Help with Divine Intervention ideas!

An orc god, amused at the cleric unwittingly asking him for help, teleports a small orcish warband onto the island to act as aid. Naturally, the warband isn't informed of this. Only the dwarf cleric is.

D&D 5E (2014) Assumptions on Hit Points and Armor Class...

I would actually suggest treating AC like a damage threshold. If below the threshold, it's reduced by the armor absorbing the impact. Thus, better armor protects you more by reducing more damage. But if above, the attack pierced the armor and the character took the full brunt.

#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

I'm going to concede the point. I actually have a post up about this one, and in particular the aspects of roleplay and how it applies. But I realized I was beginning to post like one of those feminists I complain about. I was becoming part of the problem. And that I cannot stomach. I don't...

Sex that is not consensual is rape. There's no wiggle room on this one. Basically, your entire defense of this particular "game" amounts to trying to exploit technicalities.

They also run into the problem that feminism itself is split into a number of divisions, some of whom disagree rather strongly with certain stances. The game about abortion, for example, runs afoul of feminists who oppose abortion. It outright implies that their idea of feminism is wrong. And...

My apologies. I had not meant to dismiss them at all. More to imply there are people misusing them in ways that undermine what they stand for.

#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

You have a different experience with feminism than I do. I fou.d it to be enlightening and capable of advocati.g for pwople. But, it also is a fad, and like most fads suffers from those who flock to it just to get attention. Wicca suffered this, as did climate science, mental disorders, and...

#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

Because most of these are not actually roleplaying games; they're guided acting. And there is no way you can act out rape without being offensive, thanks in part to how many people are actually victims of that crime. That's why I don't even play with it at my table; it has no place in a game...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to create a 3-way fight?

Motivations go beyond alignment. For example, I've had games where orcs and dwarves teamed up simply because the threat both faced was great enough they actually stopped fighting for once to deal with it. So, the question is... why are they fighting? If you have one group that is out to cause...

D&D 5E (2014) How do players know they are in the "wrong" location in a sandbox campaign?

My favorite solution. "Congrats, you hit! The roc dropped its meal! Roll Dexterity to dodge the elephant."

    N.E.W vs Starfinder

N.E.W. is TV- and videogame-cinematic. Starfinder is DnD-cinematic. N.E.W., I would say, is actually more comparable to Savage Worlds than Starfinder; it fills the same niche. It really depends on what style of game you want to have.

#Feminism Is A Collection of 34 "Nanogames" From Designers Around The World

Okay, review time... First Date- Orgasm gap? Seriously? Someone please tell me this is a joke. This seriously sounds like a MRA parody of the wage gap. Please tell me that this is a very, very late April Fools joke and someone just needs to buy a calendar. Flirt- This is a party game. Adult...

How many gallons in a barrel and how much does it weigh?

It varies. The typical American barrel is 31.5 gallons, but the typical beer barrel is 31 gallons. The UK beer barrel, on the other hand, is 43 gallons. The typical oil barrel is 42 gallons. So, first thing you really need to do is figure out "barrel of what" before you figure out how much it...
