Your review of 3.5 after play-testing

My group has now had 3 sessions for a total of 20 hours with 3.5. The new DR rules are great. Along with the new stuff for knowledge skills, it made them think about time, and tactics. The new haste is better balanced and still used just as often (i.e. almost ever battle.) The increased...

    Fighter/Wizard a good choice now! [3.5]

D&D is not biases towards wizards in 3rd. It might have been in earlier editions, but one of the main selling points of 3ed is that ALL of the classes are blanaced. There is no reason why other classes should also multiclass just as well as the wizard less specialized PrCs. Here I think is a...

    Too many books!

What SG-1 Book? My wife is also a Stargate fan. I could well use this for a new campain.

    Fighter/Wizard a good choice now! [3.5]

Agreed! As soon as I get to play again I am going play a EK. It is just the type of character I want. I even have some of my feats and weapons chosen. Using Rank fighting from The Ulitimate Book of Feats and a Glavie I won't even have to worry to much about armor or HP. :D

    Too many books!

I know this feeling. Just sent one off to collage and boy does that hurt your bankblance. I am still trying to catch up with my list from last year. Let along this year. Well maybe in four years when my daughter is making her own money.

Glove of storing costs 10,000 gp?

Then there are ones who steal items with it by storing said item in the gloves as they walk out of the area/store, ect.

DMs, in your campaign: free ability swaps, or pay for it?

I'am a stickler for the books. I only allow skills to changed and then only with my approval. Of course I do allow variant classes from several of the D20 books.

    The Gaming Ideal

1 - I like about 7 including the DM. Allows a unusal character or two with out being two large to get some roleplaying in. 2- Two times a week. 3 - Between 8 to 10 hours each. 4 - I don't like dark moody or very complicated plot lines. I think the PC should be hero's but don't care for the...

    Do you plotweave?

I use to run fairly open and simple campaigns because most of my players where straight H&S types. Now they are wanting more depth to the game and game world so I am trying to add more. One step at a time.

Help! I need an Animal Companion

Since one of the splat books (Tome and Blood) has a feat that allows an additional familiar, I would talk to your DM about a similar feat that allows one additional companion. Then you could have one for each environment.

For those with Kids: What age did you introduce them to D&D?

From my experience with my daughter and a friends daughter. Giving a 8 year old the PHB is a wrong move. It's large size and the volume of information could well over whelm him. I started out by letting my daughter have our old monster manual. Fun to read for a kid. Not a lot of rules...

For those with Kids: What age did you introduce them to D&D?

We allowed my daughter to roll dice for us starting around 4 I think. She actualy rolled up a character about the age of 10 or 11. We did not introduce her persay. It was just mommy's and daddy's game that we player with all of our friends.

    Getting D&D going again.....

Use a murder mystery type set up to draw them in. One good villan is a ghoul or ghast, or even a small group depending upon what level you start at. AEG has a good book on Undead that has some nice background stuff. Dragon's Lair has or can order AEG books if you don't have it. Other...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] They didn't fix SR

Re: Re: Don't compare SR & DR Here is where I disagree with you. I look at SR as the Magical equivalent of AC. AC is a fixed pass or fail test. You either hit/over come the targets AC/SR or you don't. If you do then you deal damage. The one big difference is the "to hit role" is rolled by...

    3.5 D&D or really 4.0!!!

Checking books for obselence I just spent all day checking my various d20 books to see what type of changes I will have to make for 3.5. Out of all my books (I admit only about 20 or so) the only ones I will no longer be using are the PHB (3.0), DMG (3.0) and the Monster Manual (3.0). I have...

"go ahead, i will stay and hold it off"

I was playing a paladin in who main job was to protect an cleric/ranger (2e era). Almost from the start of the campaign there was an Badie that keep attacking us with minions and then teleport out using some magic item any time we beat the means or someone (mostly me) got him into melee. This...

    Knowledge (Undead)?

They folded Knowledge (Undead) into Knowledge (Religion) so there is only one skill now. You need to check with your DM and find out what she wants to do about the change. If you paid for those ranks then you should be able to use those skill points else where.

D&D 3.x [3.5] Help my bard contribute [Thanks guys!]

Yea, using a reach weapon with your rapier and buckler would give you the ability to hide behind the big dumb fighter :p and still make attacks. Since it is a shaft weapon you can't hurt your ally. If the nasty has two high a armor class to hit you can go to aid others and still make active...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Help my bard contribute [Thanks guys!]

Re: Re: Strategizing a Singer. Spellcraft, Decipher Script will give +2 synergies bonus on UMD involving scrolls. UMD will also give you a +2 synergy bonus on Decipher Script so they are nice pair to have. With five ranks in both you have a nice +4, then add in skill focus for +3 and at first...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Help my bard contribute [Thanks guys!]

He had stated he was going for scale because of roleplaying reasons. Your statement true for all three catgories of armor after 3rd level at the lattest. (For most 2nd level characters/campains). The diffrence between scale and breastplate is +1 AC, everthing else is the same execpt the...
