    D&D 5E (2024) What is a warlock/sorcerer without a starting patron/origin?

Yeah, but what power? Do you still have to choose a patron or origin at first level? If so, then that defeats the purpose of pushing all subclasses to third level to simplify creating a new character.

    D&D 5E (2024) What is a warlock/sorcerer without a starting patron/origin?

If classes which currently start with their subclass at first level, such as warlocks, wizards and sorcerers, have their subclass choice moved to third, what would theses classes even look like their first couple of levels? Wizards are pretty easy, as one who hasn’t specialized yet is still a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Cleric Playtest Summary

For the Life domain, one small but actually kind big thing I noticed: cure wounds is no longer a “free” prepared spell. No free cure wounds! For a Life cleric!

    D&D 5E (2024) One D&D Cleric & Revised Species Playtest Includes Goliath

It's nothing to do with assumptions of intelligence. On the contrary, if the game thought people weren't smart enough to "get" their classes, it would linger in the 1st-3rd level area much longer, instead of rushing into the more complex stuff. And if a group enjoys playing the "zero" levels...

D&D 5E (2024) Fun new use for exhaustion?

Woah. I really like this. At once per short rest, Heroic Effort seems pretty balanced. Martial classes have a bit of niche protection when it comes to attack/defense by virtue of their bigger Hit Die. It addresses one of the biggest complaints about the Monk and Sorcerer, namely their small...

D&D 5E (2024) Should 1D&D introduce silver standard for prices?

Prices for those metals aren’t in that range… in what world? The rarity of those metals may be completely different in a given fantasy land, especially one populated with races dedicated to mining. Really, to me it would have no impact on the game if the economy were based on foos and quatloos.

What's the appeal of digest-sized products?

I've gotta agree about most digest size books, if that's their original intended format, are easier to read than a lot of the standard sized books. Fonts are typically the same size as the 8.5x11 books, if not larger, and with less text on the page, it's easier to scan to find things. Savage...

    Armor as Damage Reduction

Mork Borg is a rules lite system that uses armor as damage reduction. Like many such systems, armor has a die value that is rolled to determine how much damage it stops. There're only three tiers: light, medium and heavy, stopping d2, d4 and d6 respectively. A shield will stop an additional one...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D One Changes to the Rogue...

What if the Sneak Attack rule was changed to restricted to once a round, rather than once a turn (2014) or once on your turn (1DnD current playtest doc)? Then the situation of a rogue readying an action for an ally to get next to an enemy, and using their reaction to attack, would allow SA in...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D One Changes to the Rogue...

Having two attempts with every attack action is going to score a sneak attack more reliably than one attack on your turn and maybe a second attack on some one else’s turn. The opportunity to make a reaction melee attack doesn’t happen that often. IME, many encounters may not see any for all...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D One Changes to the Rogue...

Regarding the "loss" of Sneak Attacks - I think this is a wash because of the changes to dual weapon wielding. Now you get the off-hand attack as part of the Attack action. It no longer uses up your Bonus action. This is huge for a Rogue, who can get in two attacks to increase the odds of Sneak...

    D&D 5E (2014) Make SPELLS Balanced

One factor I didn’t see taken into consideration for damage spells, is whether a To Hit roll is required. To me that’s always been the justification for spells like Chromatic Orb and Scorching Ray to have higher than average damage. For true average damages, you’d need to take into account...

D&D 5E (2024) Should sorcerers and warlocks get their spell list from their subclass?

I'm hoping we see "specialization" as a core wizard feature, so they're not just "Domains, but for Wizards", where you pick a school to specialize in and get a couple of perks, and then have the subclasses not be about the schools - Bladesinger, Scribes, War Mage, etc. Maybe some subclasses...

    D&D 5E (2024) Divine Spell List

But this change itself isn't confirmed. It's still a playtest, and they're throwing a few things out there that they know will probably get rejected. Don't like the change? Fine. Let them know with your feedback.
