    D&D General Critical Role Ending

It's hard to make observations about any player without running into Geek Social Fallacy #2, but I personally try to turn it around on myself. Would I start to feel bad if I've been playing for a year+ and my group has needed to remind me dozens of times about something? The answer for me is...

Critical Role Critical Role’s 7-hour Campaign Finale

I listen to the Monday showing. Let's me skip the Nord VPN advertisements (if any), the 15 minute break (probably be at least 2 this time), and go through it at my own pace. Don't get me wrong. I intentionally try to support them by watching their adds, but Nord VPN is too much for me.

D&D 5E (2014) Is Treasure and Magic Items Important To You?

This. Give me a sword that ignites into flame, a wand that creates an illusory Will-O-Wisp you can zoom around like a laser pointer, a pouch of glitterdust that hangs in the air for an hour and strobes like dancing lights, a bag of balls enchanted with magic mouths that utter insults when they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Altering Drow Culture.

He's hardcore into Rythm & Blues, and that much swagger doesn't swing in the Underdark. Click, click, click.

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

Everyone knows you wake up after a few seconds of being unconscious, unless you've suffered severe brain damage. :ROFLMAO:

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

It's that old Vampire Dilemma: You have a vampire. He flips out and kills someone, but gosh guys, he's REALLY remorseful. Feels so tortured and bad about it, so he gets off the hook. Except he's a vampire, so he flips out and kills someone else. But gosh guys, he's REALLY remorseful. Feels so...

D&D 5E (2014) What do you think should be done with alignment?

I would just leave it alone. It's like Green and Red on Christmas. Completely unnecessary, but so ingrained into the brand it has transcended its own source and become a meme. Let it bring a smile to the lips of those that adore the tradition. It's not really hurting anything.

D&D General Solasta: Crown of the Magister reaches 1.0!

I think they scratch different itches. One thing I love about Solasta is how fluid many of the actions are. Your characters automatically crawl under rubble, automatically push over rocks, automatically pick locks, etc. That's the kind of smooth gameplay I would love to see in BG3. Likewise...

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

It is! The most dastardly and nefarious of attacks. Where's my mustache twirl emoticon?

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

It's human nature. For better or worse, our default reaction is to assume someone disagreeing with us 1) Does not know as much as we know, 2) Does not have enough life experience, or 3) Is not as smart as us. We can rail against it, but it's so widespread it's easier to work around it. Like...

D&D General If the Alignment system itself had an Alignment, what Alignment would it be?

Lawful Evil. Evil because the powers that enforce the criteria have a set of metrics they intentionally apply to everyone regardless of culture or intent (beyond intent that can be determined by said powerful beings). Yes, the powers are effectively You the DM, but in-setting those powers are...

D&D General What’s the most gruesome thing that can befall an adventurer?

Kender are some kind of black hole of cultural impossibility. I've been reading the Suncatcher series recently, and I really enjoy how Sindri has been maturing as a person since the Spellbinder/Dragon series. But looking back on how he used to be, similar to many other kender stereotypes, and...

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

This is definitely true! Campaign 2 is a strong attempt by Matt to run the game as close to 5E as possible (moment to moment rulings not withstanding). I don't know if that was just a personal choice, or if discussions of a WotC affiliated campaign book were in talks at that point.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you make a character who uses a shield like Captain America?

Tavern Brawler + Returning Shield. I've got no problem putting Returning on a Shield, if that's what the player really wants.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you find alignment useful in any way?

It makes my players happy with nostalgia when they have these flags flying behind them. They know alignment doesn't define them, but it's a sacred cow that is more like an adorable pet cow now.

Same for me. Sometimes I go back and actually watch a particularly hilarious scene, like the Cupcake, but mostly I'm listening while driving.

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

Campaign 1 really brought the funny, and I would recommend Episode 16 as a great starting point. Why 16? It introduces tons of important characters, a vital reoccurring location, and has some of the funniest moments in the early campaign. The only big downside is that it's a shopping episode...

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

They could be doing both! I mean, they are obviously having a lot of fun and it's working for them. So, as a business decision, I wouldn't touch the amazing alchemy they have going on. But if it was still a home game, I would have had a few gentle talks with them OOC about respecting fellow...

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

I want to preface this by saying I respect all of them. For being a great example of friends getting together and playing RPGs, for consistently standing by their morals and sponsoring charities, for showcasing frustrations many of us have to deal with in our lives, etc. They have done a...

    D&D General Critical Role Ending

Their inability to remember their own class abilities is certainly a point I have harped on before. But they are a highly charismatic group, and Matt himself is a bit of an inspiration. For anyone who doesn't know, he has EXTREME anxiety issues (among others) and pushes through them every single...
