    What makes E6 "gritty"?

I know, I just keep hoping if I try to push myself I'll come up with it faster.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

    I'm detail-obsessed, it's a legitimate question.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Do you mean what do I want out of a system? Or more than that?

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

What I need is a site that only lists games I'd be interested in. But since that's a fantasy I'm stuck with a great many sites and having no idea which ones to go to. It's disheartening and makes me give up. I don't expect anyone to fix that, I'm just saying I'm having a hard time and to not...

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

I know what my style is. I just don't know how or if D&D fits that. EDIT: Also I don't know where to go anymore to find that games. (I'm PbP exclusive, if that helps.) And back in the day every game I found was way too seriously-minded. And since the usual advice when this is brought up is...

Setting Junkies - How do you get your fix these days?

Actually yes, I do like to read settings for enjoyment but just find many reasons (monetary as well as how much time it takes to find and then read) to try and strictly budget which settings I read. I could have probably worded "I don't like most settings" better: I really meant more "most...

Setting Junkies - How do you get your fix these days?

    1. I thought "setting junkie" was being counted here as a mental state. 2. I was being honest and not dismissive of anyone else or otherwise being mean. I don't think your response was called for.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Played a total of (my memory is bad) 5 games of D&D, only two of which ever got to 3rd level. And that was maybe 4-5 years ago.

Setting Junkies - How do you get your fix these days?

I don't. But then I find most settings boring, so I don't read them.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Okay, I'll give it a shot next time.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Well, yes, this does come up when I think about what I'm doing, which is why I ask detailed questions such as this one. Because I don't have a lot of experience with most games, and don't really have the time (or opportunities) to learn before having to plunge in to the figuring-out process...

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Yeah, I tend to be obsessive about terms I use, so since you can have E[any level] I just came up with an all-encompasser. Also I tend to assume people know what things I'm referring to because so many people on the Internet RPG community use abbreviations and whatnot that I don't understand.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Actually it has completely nothing to do with 4e and everything to do with most of the discussions I've read on the E# system (which existed before 4e). *sigh* Alright, I'll shot it. I'm just confused because I never think of characters in terms of changing that much and mostly think of...

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

The real question is not what I want now, but just simply I have absolutely no idea how the level ranges translate into the various terms people use. I basically don't understand levels.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

EDIT: Eh, nevermind, I'll find a system I can understand.

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Okay, that's good. So what's the level range for "unrealistic, but doesn't feel like you're using superpowers yet"?

    What makes E6 "gritty"?

Title says most of it. I'm considering a system for fantasy gaming, and I might as well consider D&D 3.5/Pathfinder. Since I don't want superheroes (since if I did there are better systems for it) I'd be using one of the E# level caps. Trouble is I've never understood what the terms for the...

    Setting inspiration

For my Earth sources I like to draw from fantastic adventure stories like you find in places like the Arabian Knights. But I've drawn a lot more from fictional sources: things like He-Man (2002 version) and the Legend of Zelda series. Also I get a good deal from pictures I find online. And...

    Gunpowder, fantasy and you

I think the reason people are trying to come up with a way to integrate gunpowder despite not wanting to think too much about it is that somewhere else someone else has asked why it isn't existing in settings that have other technology from the same era. There seems to be a continual cycle of...

    It's Just a Cow!

In-world example: In my first ever D&D game, set in Eberron, the PCs were investigating a room. They found a big-cat-print thong. I had my rather unWisdom gnome keep them because he thought they were probably important.
