    Mastercraft & Spycraft

Depending on how integrated elements of the system are this could be tricky (that may be the reason why they didn't just do that for Fantasycraft). And if the slimming rules for Spycraft weren't at least to the level of Fantasycraft I wouldn't be interested.

    Mastercraft & Spycraft

The other side of the coin being some people don't want that level of complexity. Myself I read an example combat I downloaded and there were just too many pieces to each turn, to say nothing of the fact that I play PbP exclusively and thus do not have time for systems where it's advantageous...

    Mastercraft & Spycraft

Link? I went over there are couldn't find it. And as to the answer to #3, in order: * Yes, that's the whole point of it, though only 10,000 Bullets is currently confirmed. * Not really, the systems are kind of different. Not too much, as you can see, but different. Probably something like...

    What's going on?

Crafty Games, makers of Spycraft, came out with a slightly more streamlined Mastercraft system, first unveiled in their fantasy offering Fantasy Craft. Might not be great or good news to everyone, but I certainly like their ideas.

    Question on fantasy races

Though you could have this by not giving the race stat bonuses and an encounter power. I know the idea doesn't work for all races, but I once read someone's post which suggested that a race didn't need to have racial ability adjustments just guideline (not hard limits, I must point out). For...

    Question on fantasy races

That depends on two factors: 1. What's the point of getting together a group only to find out they want to play a style the GM just can't stand? The GM should be up front about what they are willing to put up with if they have this problem. 2. Some people are just slow designers. For them if...

Why do PbP games fade away from inactivity?

I play PbP now exclusively (except for one online chat game, but I'm not so interested in that as you'll find out), and for me it's the only way. I have many reasons why I don't join face-to-face games, most them making online play that much more necessary. But play-by-chat requires me to sit...

PHB3 Excerpts: what are you hankering for?

Minotaurs. Also any other race besides the gith.

    Question on fantasy races

Sometimes you don't have the players around to ask during the world construction phase. Also: sometimes a GM just likes a certain style (or hates certain others styles) such that those times it's more condusive to everyone's fun if the GM makes it clear up front what they're likely to do before...

    Question on fantasy races

There is actually a product called Races of Consequence which hybridizes all possible combinations of PHB races (as well as adding full orcs to the mix, I think). The results aren't impressive mechanically, but by flavor they actually manage to define each hybrid.

Hero System Vs. Mutants & Masterminds. Which is the better super-hero game?

You said that in CoC you can alter your saves based on something to do with attack and defense. I was confused on that part. I assumed it meant that you could lower your attack to increase your save values. But in d20 you normally only have one attack value. This would mean that when you...

    Question on fantasy races

I most totally agree: one of the "fixes" I've thought about for my disappointment with humans always getting the diversity is to divorce the mechanics of race from the flavor text and instead consider them the normal course of genetic expression and cultural molding. (Okay, you're going to have...

    Question on fantasy races

You find the same stuff about anything if you venture into the dark recesses of the internet. I don't see why furries should have to be singled out. (But I'm not accusing you of advocating against them, I feel you are just answering my question.) Flavor-wise or just mechanically?

    Question on fantasy races

It seems C.S. Lewis had something interesting to say on the subject: " 'But why,' (some ask), 'why, if you have a serious comment to make on the real life of men, must you do it by talking about a phantasmagoric never-never land of your own?' Because, I take it, one of the main things the...

    Question on fantasy races

*starts up backhoe* That would be a nice change of pace. I just think humans should start showing some humility when they compare themselves to others.

    Question on fantasy races

Well if they would stop agrandizing themselves I wouldn't have reason.

    Question on fantasy races

Sorry, I missed that part. Personally I don't mind fuzzy humans, so long as they're significantly different looking. I use other races for two reasons: physiological roleplay (getting to be in a different body, but not having a different psycology) and "see beyond appearances to how everyone's...

    Question on fantasy races

That "whole race as a character in its own right" makes a great deal of sense. I think what miffs me about it is that then the people within that race start to become a sort of not-really-people because they're just existing for the benefit of the bigger picture. I prefer to see the small...

    Question on fantasy races

What's wrong with furries? It's no more lazy that humans with variant ears, faces, and heights. And they can be tied to the world just as well as anything else.
