D&D General Rethinking the class name "Druid".

I have no idea what you're trying to say.

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC Strixhaven/Kickstarter Red Dawn

Based on what I saw on the Kickstarter page, it might be as simple as "we used images instead of text to display everything, so it would take too much work to make even small edits in a limited timeframe".

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC Strixhaven/Kickstarter Red Dawn

Shame: Red Dawn had some original ideas. (Though are we sure it didn't get taken down because someone owns "Red Dawn" as a name?)

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

Didn't really get to play that much; played more Pathfinder 1e, for how much they're similar. I liked what I read, but I'm not sure how much that manifested in play.

    Level Up (A5E) Heritage Gifts/Paragons

Build systems are always appreciated, even when they aren't perfect.

    Level Up (A5E) Heritage Gifts/Paragons

Maybe it's just really hard to make distinct gnome and halfling subtypes.

D&D General Rethinking the class name "Druid".

The fact that people have these debates is one of the reasons I like making up words like "greenpriest".

Level Up (A5E) What’s up with the Arcane and Divine spell schools?

It's drawing on the "technology vs nature" thematic.

    D&D General Designing Morality Systems

I have sometimes tried to adapt D&D Alignment by renaming the axis. "Evil" becomes "Power" because that sounds more like something someone would want to be part of and allows for both the usual jerk-faces as well as anti-heroes. "Law" becomes "Structure": it's about having something outside...

Level Up (A5E) Relative balance of A5E vs. O5E

I, too, do have some worry about the relative balance, but that's because I would like to use third-party options that have probably been balanced (and definitely designed) with O5E in mind.

Level Up (A5E) So where do ya'll plan to start with LU?

These days I assume GMs and players discuss what they do and do not want out of a game, and therefore it is good sportspanship for a GM to not simply use a journey system without at some point having said "I'd like to try using this system for handling journeys between places, is that okay?"

What tropes do you want to see more of in fantasy RPGs?

If they do, it doesn't bother me if they exist.
  13. Silvercat Moonpaw

Level Up (A5E) So where do ya'll plan to start with LU?

I would presume if the journey rules are being used that the players gave consent based on interest in using them.

D&D General Rethinking the class name "Druid".

shrug🤷‍♀️ Don't have an answer about that yet. I guess it's fine but I haven't thought about it enough.
  15. Silvercat Moonpaw

What tropes do you want to see more of in fantasy RPGs?

More modernistic democracies/republics. (Wanted to make sure saying "more democracies" didn't mean "more ancient Greek-style" and similar.)

D&D General Rethinking the class name "Druid".

Shapechanging. Nature magic (for various definitions of what constitutes "nature" in a magical fantasy world). Unimportant things: Having a "divine" (as D&D defines its magics) power source. Having an anti-civilization/trappings of civilization stance built-in.

D&D General Rethinking the class name "Druid".

A wizard is a sorcerer with a hat and a degree that isn't worth the student debt any more. 😜

D&D General Rethinking the class name "Druid".

I don't tend to draw that kind of line: I'm not fond of categorizing something as "unnatural". Plus you could always have "supernatural" beings who represent or are connected to "natural" beings such that tapping into "supernatural" powers would allow you to assume "natural" shapes.

Level Up (A5E) My first impression

And we can now call it the "Orcish Nerve Pinch" and not worry about genre-appropriateness.

That's another good one. Maybe with extra emphasis on different elements via subclasses. "Animal" might be another element; that's where you get Wildshape.
