I would say you have struck a chord with them by providing enough fantasy in your semi-sci-fi. I highly recommend fitting tiny parodies of Star Wars characters in as supporting cast - but not too obviously. I once had an old geezer who had a dinghy (slightly magically enhanced) in an...

Well, it's less about a particular computer, and more about where his connection is routed through. So different physical locations, or remotely accessed locations, dynamic IP assignment, and similar things would allow potentially variant IPs. But ultimately, you can block the whole range...

I'm DM'ing a Player Who Just Announced his Bard is a Kleptomaniac Pickpocket. Crap.

Ed Greenwood wrote a FR pickpocket table a long time ago for an issue of Dragon magazine (I don't remember the issue #, I'll check later this weekend). However, I do remember one of the items being warded by Lich who used it to watch the world as it passed from person to person, occasionally...

*poke poke* Is it dead yet? It needs to be dead before I can use necromancy on it... I think.

What alternate game systems are you trying out if you don't like 4e?

Almost done buffing the rough edges off a True20/Omni system/other sources cohesive rewrite. It's been fun to playtest, and it's fit me and my players needs for dangerous + heroic, that most of us didn't get from our playtests of 4E with others.

    D&D 4E Running Commentary on Rel's 4e Campaign (Complete 8/2/10)

I do something akin to this for my True20-esque run, with three "classes" of minion: Mooks: 1 hit to kill Henchmen: 2 hits or 1 crit to kill Lieutenants: 3 hits to kill, grant all other minions in the fight an "extra hit" to a max of 3, by their leadership/supernatural power. It's worked out...

    Starting a new M&M campaign...

Glad to be of assistance during the brainstorming phase... To be honest, no, not specifically. But from my vague childhood memories of comics and cartoons, they seem the appropriate "simian revenge" schemes. It always has to do with proving the superiority of the supervillain's...

Help me name my Cowboys & Dragons 4e setting

I had an image of Dragonborn who looked like Gila Monsters with Poison Breath, and that awkward walk that desert reptiles have, and strange words screamed in my head. They are now yours! And yours too, by all means...

Which is also a good way to cement him into the world as a recurring villain. SURE, stealing stuff he needs for his experiements/revenge is viable for certain things. BUT, if he is a super-intelligent ape with weird science knowledge, using his skills to start a company that gives those pesky...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

I've come to the conclusion in my games that there's almost no way to quantify overuse of a stunt mechanic so long as the the player's are expending something useful to their characters and taking a chance. I've been enjoying reading this thread because it kind of proved a perception of mine -...

The evil horde on the march - what defenses would they have?

That is a good point, Fireball is the artillery of the magic world. But in a magic world, you never send a pure fighting force against a magic fighting force. The leaders of the horde would utilize tactics and strategy based on their knowledge. Pretty sure they have a fair amount of mid-level...

The evil horde on the march - what defenses would they have?

Oh, and I forgot the follow-up: If he makes a rotating windstorm, keeping a small (10' max) eye for his own safety, then drops about 60', and if he has another 5th level spell (assuming druid here, and not domain limited), he casts another control winds, offset so the eyes don't match, and...

The evil horde on the march - what defenses would they have?

Another thought... Should a Fireball Barrage Team enter the fray, have one Gnoll Druid or Marrash Cleric with the Air Domain as the default "Commander" of the air forces. He flies at mid-height of the air defense, preferably under invisibility, possibly with a non-detection item. He's worth...
