    Augment Summoning

oh, whoops, sorry, you didn't; I missed my Search check. And CustServ got back to me again: So there it is. He's serious. Since I haven't seen either this feat or things like Elemental Swarm in play yet, can anyone say whether they think this feat overpowers some of those ninth-level spells...

    Augment Summoning

um, just that it's odd that this Bard/Sorcerer/Wizard spell would be available to good-leaning clerics, but only if they prepare a different spell in its place. Also, when I think of spontaneous casting, I usually don't think of a spell with ten-minute casting time. But that's just me...

    Augment Summoning

CustServ excretes its opinion Right, but is a summoning spell a summon spell? Not necessarily, and that's the question in this thread. In the mood for a little levity, I asked WotC CustServ its opinion. My question: Listed in increasing order of restrictiveness, right? The response: Why did...

    What's up with Finesse?

Ki Ryn, I say it's because you have to learn how to fight, first, before you can learn how to fight elegantly. I think the prereq is fine.

You will now allow clerics to spontaneously cast secure shelter?

    Help me build the Half-orc

One of the problems is that you are comparing the half-orc (underpowered) with the dwarf (overpowered). The way I fix it is: Dwarves get exactly what the PH says they get, plus clumsy and insular. That is, they get a -2 to Dexterity and a +2 on all Charisma-based skill checks against other...

    Augment Summoning

This is kind of a revisit of this thread, two and a half years old. I'm asking in light of newer splat. Augment Summoning [General] Your summoned creatures are more powerful than normal. Prerequisite: Spell Focus (conjuration). Benefit: Each creature you conjure with any summon spell gains a...

    Upgrading Magic Items

Conceivably you could shorten the crafting time by having multiple crafters work in series, like wizard A is on duty from 12a-8a, wizard B from 8a-4p, and wizard C from 4p to 12a. Or is that broken and stupid? Whaddaya think, frank?

FAVORED SOUL: This doesn't seem right...

um. Do you mean uncanny dodge? He does, but I think this is a narrow reading of the rules. The orb lasts as long as it takes to travel the range of the spell and/or strike a target. Which is to say, instantaneously. Then it's gone. So anyway, how 'bout them favored souls, huh? wow. yeah.

Need some help with campaign building...

Another vote for the Lords of Madness book. When it came out I read it cover to cover, and was a little disappointed, because I felt that it was missing something. Then Heroes of Horror came out, and at last LoM felt complete. Those two books will inspire you countless ways. May I meekly...

    Suggest Good High Level/Epic Adventures

My party is knee-deep in Monte Cook's "the Harrowing" from Dungeon number...84? maybe? I think it was the first Dungeon to feature exclusively 3.0 content. The Harrowing is intended for four 15th-level PCs; I have five 16th/17th PCs. Aside from upgrading to 3.5, I have also sped up its time...

    New "Dead Levels"

I smooth out certain things that classes grant so they are less jarring of a change, e.g. the Dread Necromancer's DR and the Fleshwarper's accelerated grafting. (The latter takes all ten levels to fully kick in)

    Upgrading Magic Items

I would allow two creators to add different effects simultaneously, so while one is upgrading that armor from +1 to +2, his buddy is adding the silent moves ability.

FAVORED SOUL: This doesn't seem right...

How did this become an orb thread? The wizard in my campaign knows that these spells make me angry, so he only takes orb of force once or twice a day, and I like OoF because it is one that I can rationalize. Not the way as written, of course, but I see it as an arcane snap-pop that does...

Stirges grapple their targets at +12...

When two creatures are grappling, that's it: they are grappling. It's not one grappling the other; both are in the state we call "grappling," regardless of who started it. Usually. The reason the stirge's ability is called "Attach" is to distinguish it from "Grapple." This is a special case...

Do skeletons and zombies ONLY come from the create undead spells?

A creature slain by a mohrg returns as a zombie. More importantly, there is always rule 0. e.g. Check the beginning of the Sunless Citadel for its skeletons.

    All mages!

bestone, I think that is absolutely awesome. They're going to kick ass. I say don't worry about it. If anything, they will be crazy powerful, as each level will add eight spells to the party's spellbooks, with lots of sharing. wowza
