    [Dec] What are you reading?

I just finished "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer" which is the tie-in book to Stephen King's Rose Red. (Not written by King.) It was a mediocre haunted house story, but had too many fantastical elements to adequately suspend any disbelief. I'm now reading "Hunting Badger" by Tony Hillerman. I love...

BOEF no longer D20! Now it's OGL!

When Valar Projects started the Book of Erotic Fantasy, I signed up to get its newsletter just because I was curious to what they were doing. The latest one contains some interesting news that they are no longer able to publish under the D20 license. They specifically stated: I'm not sure how...

    [OT] Local or Urban Legends

I live right next to the Santa Ana river in Norco and go to school at UC Riverside. Somewhat not very well known is the Riverside Frog/Lizard Man. From the website here: In November 1958 a Riverside, California, man driving in a car near the Santa Ana River was attacked by a similar creature...

    [August] What are you reading?

I'm Finishing up Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. Good book, but the guy definitely writes a lot. 950 pages of small print. After that, I'll probably need to take a break for a week or two.

[OT] To All Who Know Me ... Sad News

I'm really sorry to hear this. Please be sure to take care of yourself.

    [July] What are you reading?

If everyone promises not to laugh at me then I'll tell you that I'm reading Julie Kenner's Aphrodite's Secret. Yes it's technically classified as a romance novel, but it's actually all about Superheroes and their mortal loves. It combines zany action with very light reading that's actually fun...

[OT] The Worst Car of the Millennium - The List

My family owned a Chevy Vega for a while (#2 car on the list). I remember the rust stains everywhere. In our defense, we were very, very, very poor at the time. I also had a friend who owned a Yugo for a while. One day while she was working at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va., it...

    Any Decent Fantasy Novels?

I highly recommend "The Deed of Paksenarrion" by Elizabeth Moon. This is actually three books in an omnibus edition and is in my opinion the best example of a paladin in fantasy literature.

Novel series that you can't stand.

Hmmm, so many bad books. Eddings series with Sparhawk were awful. Same as the Belgariad and Mallorean series. Exactly the same story with even more annoying characters. Tailchaser's song by Tad Williams. Whenever I read a book that has been touted as "Watership Down for X animal species," I'm...

    3.5 Psionics?

I would be really surprised if WotC used a third party product, even though it is written by the author of the Psi Handbook and is a better system. Besides, I think they'll feel that the current Psi combat system is too much of a sacred cow to get rid of.

    Native American Campaign Setting?

I would definitely be interested in both a native american and a mesoamerican setting. I also would like a setting for oceana and one for Austrailian aboringines.

    Dragon Men Race?

Nyambe: African Adventures have dragon-blooded men called Unthlatu for a playable race. They get breath weapons. The whole book is really cool.

    Jack Vance books?

It doesn't have "Vancian" magic, but the book Lyonesse by the same author is really good.

    [March] What are you reading?

I just finished Raymond Carver's "Where I'm Calling From" I also have the last four Black Company Books (Glen Cook) and hopefully I'll start on the Vlad Taltos books by Stephen Brust (I have the first 3).

"Leave it to you ma petite to bring Death to the party"

I definitely enjoy her books. Though I agree with the previous poster that sometimes she concentrates too much on the sexual side of things, I still eagerly await each book.

    Best D&D Fiction

I liked the Dragonlance novels by Weiss & Hickman, but hated the stuff farmed out to other authors. I also liked the first 5 DarkSun novels by Troy Denning.

Should monster books from now on have level breakdowns?

As a DM, I think it would be nice if the publisher did this for a few of the more humaniod monsters (or the most interesting ones from a player standpoint), but it would definitely be a waste of space for me if they did it for all monsters.

    [OT] What's your favorite song(non-gaming)?

Currently my favorite song is Gillian Welch's "Everything Is Free." However, my top bands are: The Church Better Than Ezra Pink Floyd & The Connells

What's the worst sci-fi/fantasy movie you've ever seen?

The worst Sci-Fi movie I ever watched was Lost In Space. That I actually sat through the whole movie shows how much I needed to punish myself.

[Feb] What are you reading now?

No problem. I guess I wasn't too clear with my grammar. In any event I wasn't offended by your reply, just curious. I thought you might have had something against the Chronicles of Narnia or something. :p
