D&D 5E (2014) Can your Druids wear metal armor?

Because it's against the rules for druids to wear metal armor. And the restriction has been part of Druid lore and flavor since 1e. And because introducing a plot element sacred to one of your players' character but not letting them make use of it is about as dickish as.... ...creating a whole...

D&D 5E (2014) Can your Druids wear metal armor?

You mean this big? You might consider looking up the relative densities of common stone types vs metal or metal ores - seeing as how it's mass not size (beyond the nitty-gritty drag components) that determine the amount of energy from falling impacts.

D&D 5E (2014) Can your Druids wear metal armor?

Why must a fallen star be made of metal, again? Why not glowing crystal, stone, magically congealed light, magically hardened ice or something even more exotic?

    D&D 5E (2014) (+) Halfling Appreciation and Development Thread

But not a cartel / monopoly. In most game worlds. * cue Brooklyn accent * "So you taught you could j'st help yuhself ta one o' OUR trees?"

    D&D 5E (2014) (+) Halfling Appreciation and Development Thread

Kinda feels like more of a halfling thing to me personally (going purely from my gut) but ymmv. Not sure why - I suppose part of the melange of anachronistic, ahistorical influences that make up my personal view of "halflingess" includes a touch of early New England colonist, minus the religion...

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

Perhaps. But how many others "races" have a significant incidence of childlike characters? One has to presume that in a large enough population you will find Dwarves who take up Wizardry or who don't like beer, Elves who become miners or can't nance, Humans with timeless patience, Dragonborn...

    D&D 5E (2014) (+) Halfling Appreciation and Development Thread

Hmm. Would have thought that was more of an Aerenal (Eberronian) thing.

It will at least be a delicious cooked elf.

Acorn aren't toxic to humans. When cooked. EDIT: The more accurate answer would be - when prepared properly.

Another possibility - they trade for food. From races like halflings. There have been real-world homologues.

    D&D 5E (2014) (+) Halfling Appreciation and Development Thread

Yeah, the entire point of that little story was that the majority of creatures or humanoids are giant from a halfling's perspective.

    D&D 5E (2014) (+) Halfling Appreciation and Development Thread

The callused halfling looks to be picking out a sliver from his scabby, little hands with a pitted knife. "Thing I nevver got about you fancy folks is all that stupid pre-occ'pation wit size. Who gots the longest gorilla arms, who gots the biggest, shiniest rock, the draggingest robes, the...

    D&D General TPK or Imprison

In most cases for most groups - imprisonment. Beat and taunt (briefly! Too much exposition = ungood) them while they're down for their stupidity. Take their stuff, let them recover their major pieces of equipment but lose a bit of the minor; force them to try escape at reduced hp.

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

One item of historical hilarity here - that I would guess someone has probably brought up at some point in these 216 pages - is the case of the Balearic isles. Home to a peaceful, herding culture in Roman and Carthaginian times that essentially never waged war on any other nations (though the...

    D&D General [+] TRAPS! a positive thread

More generally speaking, I like traps as the occasional puzzle for the party, flavor to make the environment seem more interesting or real, as an added twist, or a an occasional source of amusement. Sometimes as an extra tactical complication during combat. I particularly like traps that get...

    D&D General [+] TRAPS! a positive thread

One of my personal favorites is just a lever, switch, or button. Or a row of them. No signs, clues, or explanation. They serve no purpose but to trigger something nasty - a disintegration ray; or if a row of interactables, several minor effects. Once I had a wheel that opened flood gates...

    D&D General Dryad thought experiment

The area is populated with a forest of "ghost trees" that mostly ignore humanoid creatures; but hunger for and drain the life force of any wayward seedling or plant creature that dares set root in the area. And seriously freak out druids.

D&D 5E (2014) Opportunity Attack around a Corner: Yes or No?

If you're having difficulties conceptualizing why Grimmwald could attack around the corner, I would tend to say: Don't straightjacket your thinking into a presumption that characters and movement ONLY occur in nice, discrete squares. Consider a case where Grimmwald is leaning half his body...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is witchbolt underated?

Concentration is the major issue with the spell. (Although the short range is unpleasant as well).

D&D General The big bad evil... Red Herring

Nobody said that tombs were designed to be explored by interlopers. But putting lot of expensive carvings, paintings, and religious iconography is a good way to telegraph that there might be something worth stealing. The Egyptians themselves were well aware of this fact. Aside from inspiring...
