    A Question of base attack

A fighter will beat the crap out of a Wizard in a sword-fight due to higher appropriate stats and a buttload of powers. The fact that their BAB is the same doesn't mean anything. However classes do get bonuses to different defenses, they're just flat like Saga.

    Cast Ritual

:1:Ritual use is out of combat, there will usually be no time limit involved, as such, having more than one character in the party with the feat is unlikely to give significant rewards. :2:Even if you have the feat, you still have to spend time and money getting the spells. :3:As, say, a...

OK, when do you ever "NOT" use a power and do a basic attack?

Repeated here in the Powers article.

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

We do? Archmages do, but there don't seem to be general most people get this abilities which can do this. Cleave and the fighter basic attack which does damage on a miss should do about 8 damage at level 21.

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

Minions having 1 hp but not taking damage on a miss is a metagame concept designed to simulate them having very low hp with as little effort on the GMs part as possible. If they did just have, say, 15 hp at level 10, throwing a fireball out would kill them even on a miss, if you rely on the...

That means you're relying on metagame knowledge to regulate player behaviour. Not the best choice.

Hiding the PHB from players - Cool or Restrictive?

I've played under a GM who liked to do something similar to this occasionally (allthough not to this extent), it was one of his more irritating habits. When I'm playing a game I want to know what the implyed setting is, and I want to know what my characters options are, all it ever resulted in...

    The new point-buy?

Didn't we recently go through the serious problems with one for one point buy? It specifically hinders people who want to create more well rounded or off achetype characters, and encourages characters having multiple dump stats. (Okay, yes, chances are you were in that thread arguing with me...

    Dragonborn MAD

Pff, people(you) are seriously overstating the importance of the new "best of two" defenses thing. How often did Fighters in your campaign max their wisdom or dex for saves? It happens, and it's a nice bonus, but it's only one bonus, If you get a big bonus from str and con and chr and wisdom...

D&D 4E 4e Multiclassing structure and Weapons of Legacy, Dragonmarks, etc.

It's not that hard to add a bunch of rituals that can only be used dragonmarked characters.

    TWF and you

The fact that each iterative on your off hand required an extra feat and absurdly large dex, and just weren't worth it. And yes, rolling 7 or often more attacks does take too long, and gets annoying and silly. It was also fairly substandard.

    D&D 4E AC and 4e

As for how D&D is different from Saga, in D&D because most everyone wears armour, as opposed to Star Wars where it's relatively rare for powerful characters to wear armour, also, Fireball and a sword swing work differently enough that you want different defenses for them, whereas blasters and a...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

Yes, yes, items have pluses, but I distincly remember someone saying that there wouldn't be amy items that only grant pluses, implying that a +2 magic sword isn't just a +2 sword, it's a +2 sword with the "magic" property. But like I said, I ould be misremembering.

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

I believe we were promised that there would be no "generic plus items", implying "+2 magic" actually means something besides just +2. I could be misremembering though.

I don't see how this follows at all from "The items you get from killing things/quests will be much better than the ones you can afford to buy/make" which is what the article says.

Unless you're playing a solo game, in which case the most efficient way to get xp is to rescue cats from trees and help old ladies accross the road. (Since xp from minor quests don't seem to scale by amount of players).
