Step right this way .... the answer to all your problems (with healing surges)

Apparently I've spent too much time on the internet since the thing that disturbed me was not the finger (meh) but yet another medical article with the phrase "we don't actually have any idea how this works, but it's pretty amazing, eh?"

Explain why this character isn't just a Ranger and I'll think about it.

I assume it means use a Wizard at will power once per encounter.

I don't actually have problem with people who do that. I do that more than most people in my group. I just feel that the game shouldn't be designed intentionally to encourage it, as this marginalizes the people who aren't interested in doing that more than is necessary.

Mods: Please merge the multiclassing threads!!

It didn't need to be. I maintain that someone should make one thread ten minutes or so before the article goes up, and all other threads about it should be locked. It was only because it was the first time anyone has done that, and because it was done 10 hours early that it devolved into sillyness.

D&D is about killing monsters and taking their stuff, about kicking arse and taking names, and about trash talking and telling a story about it, not spending 3 hours picking you spells and your prestigue class levels so that your party isn't insta-gibbed by the high level Lich. 4e is doing that...

There was a tenth level character with 6 feats. Their race and class was not known.

The feats give you extra powers, so do Paragon paths, there is no difference, both are "multiclassing" No. Read Mouseferatu's post, he's actually played the game, those levels are the lowest level you can take the feat.

well, the first feat generally looks good, since it's something on top of your normal abilities, however yeah, and I'd say the utility powers would allways be good, since they'd often give you access to wacky things, but with the attack power feats look like you'd want to be careful you had a...

    Half Elves and Multiclassing

Or y'know, maybe they just get their choice of multiclassing feat? Since the only difference between the feat provided and what the half-elf had is a lack of training in arcana, and that could have easily changed since.

Only if you look at your character's stats as some sort of definition of what the character is, as opposed to a descriptor of what the character can do. Things like class and feats and powers are there to describe how the character is capable of interacting withthe world, requiring them to tell...

The encounter power is one level after you get two per encounter powers and the utility is also a couple of levels after you get two utility powers, those make sense because they don't want you to have more abilities from your "other" class than your primary class, but for the Daily you have to...

I assume it's the levels on the bottom three feats, it's not obvious what they mean. -edit, Ninja'd, Ninja'd so hard it hurts :(

to put it simply, that's not a limit on the highest level you can take it, it's might be a limit on the lowest level you can take the feat, but honestly, I'm ont sure what those levels mean.

What? You can take the Novice power feat at 4th level. or possibly as soon as you take one of the other feats, it's not obvious whether those levels are prereques or not. anyway, you certainly don't have to be 11th.

Actually, I was going to suggest either the mods or regular forum posters do something like this to prevent the rushing to get "first scoop" when the article first comes up. It's common in webcomic forums where you have a similar situation (in that you know when the point of the thread is...

Btw, do people have those? I forgot to save the updated ones, and I can't find them on teh Wizards site any more.

    What's your back-up game?

Dark Heresy or Mutants and Masterminds are the current "backup games" for when we get bored of 3.x in our group. If 4e doesn't pan out, I'll probably be pushing for using either Warriors and Warlocks or just a converteding M&M into fantasy for the "primary" game.

    Excerpts: Angels

Yeah, I was mostly just ranting. I just think alignments have as much to do with the new cosmology as Gods have to do with the Planescape factions, there's a link here and there, but they don't really have that much to do with ech other. If I was going to create some sort of "wheel" or at least...

    Excerpts: Angels

I tihnk you may be misunderstanding what they meant, they said they were getting rid of "needless" symmetry, which is there merely to be symmetric, "we have a fire and an earth Magi, obviously we need a water one too". Symmatry which is interesting and makes sense is good, Archons were made to...
