I'm not sure why people say the trailers do not look good. They look like the film, TV series and manga. If someone liked those, they should like the trailer (the film remains to be seen).

That is true of all the versions of GitS. The mangas aren't in the same universe as the movie, the movie isn't in the same universe as the TV series, and the last TV series (Arise) is in another universe too.

I finished Old Man's War by John Scalzi. It was an enjoyable read. Not very complicated either, so plowed through it rather quickly. I'm not sure why it is so popular though. I do not see any huge flaws with it, but it lacks in the qualities a classic would have.

Like Conan, I find these stories to be hit and miss. Some were clearly written as filler. Others are real fun. The pulp age is a fascinating period.
