    Crit. with Meteor Swarm?

Because it's a spell, not a magic item. This is one case where they definitely work differently. Nifft: if you think the spell is underpowered, then why are you against the chance of critical fire damage? I would think that fixing the spell would be more important than the letter of the...

    Crit. with Meteor Swarm?

Hmm. I suppose the text is vague enough to go either way. I'm not sure your case is any stronger, since the spell removes the save for the targetted individual. That could be a way of indicating it is a targeted spell for *them*. I think it's a case the DM could rule either way with decent...

    Crit. with Meteor Swarm?

The fire damage should be doubled, too, since it is a spell effect. And it doesn't matter if you double the damage or double the dice rolled. That only matters to really anal people. :)

High-level fighters: are better feats the solution?

You can use any rite of the levels you know, with limited uses at each level (for most characters -- really high level ritual warriors start getting unlimited uses for their low-level rites). You do need to consult the list when you want to use them, but I imagine that would become routine...

High-level fighters: are better feats the solution?

My bad. I don't know how I missed that; I guess I started skimming unconsciously. :) I find there's a lot of AU/AE things you can steal directly for regular D&D. Champions work just fine, for one. I think fighters with combat rites would also work wonderfully.

High-level fighters: are better feats the solution?

One thing I'm thinking about is the warrior "spells" (I forget the real name) from Arcana Evolved (only -- they weren't in Arcana Unearthed). You'd only get them for fighter levels; they're interesting; and they're no overpowered.

    True Dispel Magic

Looks good to me, Baronovan. Allowing it to target wall of force and and antimagic is pretty cool. :)

    Sorry for the downtime

Why, yes. Yes he is. ;) I would just like to note that one of the worst known malcontents over there (me) was the one saying it had to be some simple, boring, ordinary error. If *I* am sitting there saying no shenanigans are going on, you can be pretty sure the idea is not popular. I had...

    True Dispel Magic

If this place had a reputation system like Nothingland does, I'd be giving you Rep++ right now. The epic "rules" should *never* be used as a guideline for judging power. Your dislike of "Mordenkainen's Twinky DM Spell to Mess up the PCs for no Good Reason" is also lovely. For a 9th level...

    No Alignments

My current campaign is mostly standard D&D, without alignments. Rather than tinker with the paladin, though, I'm using the Champion class from Aracana Unearthed/Evolved -- specifically the Champion of Life. Similar class, similar powers, but no alignment to worry about. I'm using another...

    The Awl Pike

Since that is specifically and precisely what they were designed for, I'm afraid I have no choice but to call that a dumb comment. Please try again later. :)

    Improving the Diviner

Some good ideas here. I think that each specialist really needs to be more unique than they are. Skill lists, powers, etc. One thing I've never understood is why they didn't make the specialists prestige classes in 3e. It just seems like such an obvious move...

    Improving the Diviner

Dunno. My eyes are always drawn to the Conjurer variants, which turns that specialist into a viable class. Lemme look... Enhanced Awareness adds Sense Motive as a class skill, gives benefits on identify and arcane eye, and adds +1 save DC for divinations in exchange for a familiar. Bonus...

    Alternate Charisma Uses

Yeah, I have to agree there. :) From this thread, I am leaning towards having Charisma add to action points -- though I'm still not 100% sure exactly how I want to do action points for my game. I am also really liking the idea of having initial reactions (when not decided by the story) being...

    Improving the Diviner

One of my favourite specialists to play is the diviner. Why? No one else plays them. However, there's a darn good reason no one plays them. They suck. The divination spells available to wizarads are *terrible*. I can't even count the number of times the rest of the party has asked me...

Ambiguously Gendered Child of "What is the Hivemind?"

Good night. See you next Tuesday, most likely. And on the next thread, probably. :)

Does this seems reasonable as a 2nd level spell?

I'd call it rather weak. Unearthed Arcana has a conjurer option where all your summoning spells have a reduced casting time all the time, in exchange for not being able to summon a familiar. Familiars are very weak, so I think the ability in turn is pretty weak. I think a better version would...

D&D 5E (2014) Help me create the next stage of Ogre!

In a very old 1e gamer mag -- White Dwarf, I think, back when they covered D&D -- they had an article on converting Tolkien-stylez humanoids into D&D. I think the olog hai were ogre/troll breeds. In any case, olog hai makes a darn cool name for a race. :) If you're continuing the trend from...

    Crothian's 30,000th Post Party

I must have missed that. "Good rock band" and "The Who" don't fit together in the same sentance, so my mind must have just recoiled from that in horror. ;)

    Happy Earth Day!

I will celebrate Earth Day by eating lots of beef, driving in my car, and arguing about global warming on boards that allow such things. :)
