I say yes, because the feat is completely useless even for sorcerers if you only get a piddly lower level spell from your own spell list. That said, I wouldn't let a wizard take a spell that is only on the bard, ranger, or paladin list. A 9th level wizard shouldn't be able to get holy sword...

Amen! It is not munchkinizing to want to trade a power you aren't going to use for one that you are. And it's not munchkinizing to get rid of a pet you don't want and isn't going to fit your character. :)
