Yeah when they are using a 'special effect' mini they seem to be better in general. Maybe it's because you know they are trying harder. But just regular run of the mill monsters and races must lose quite a bit from concept sketch phase to modelling phase.

Indeed its a turn off. And while they are regressing, they can go back to school on how to mold plastic weapons that aren't warped out of the box and thereby ruining what slim chance you had at a good mini in the first place.

That's the saddest collection I've seen from D&DM. Star Wars minis have to be made by the same people and their stuff doesn't look half as churned out as these.

Funny thread. It's weird about the Wizards naming conventions, I don't think they are -bad- necessarily, but if you showed a list of proper names from different game companies, I think we could pick out the Wizards names easily.

Hmm I wonder if we are seeing a blurring of the line bewteen the minis game and the RPG? Imagine if someday your character sheet will be the size of a collectable card. It could fit in my wallet for easy storage. Neat!

Their excitement reminds me of salesmen on an infomercial. My 2nd edition books are conspicuously missing, I'm sure the same will happen to my 3E books. Only my 1E books have aesthetic value to me.

As I said relative times, it applies here. Your situation is a microcosm of why I don't think people will wait to read the finished PDF. Instead of waiting a month to read a compiled PDF of weekly online articles you are waiting er...yeah, wow...for a compiled monthly printed magazine. I'm glad...

The difference between snail mail dungeon and electronic weekly dungeon is spoilage. With the print magazine everyone got access to the info at the same relative time. If you read these forums you will be compelled to DL the articles as they come out rather than wait to the end of the month...

I normally like WAR's art, but on these covers I'm not wow'ed like I was with his Dungeon magazine covers. It might not be his fault though, I think it's the craptastic color bars that starkly standout in front of the art. Paizo covers always incorporated the logos, text and art properly...

Aren't petitions a bit late anyways? If they said we are thinking of doing this or that with the Realms I can see getting a movement going, but its past the point of no return. Drizzt novel, Grand History of the Realms, etc. You can't take those back once they are published.

iPhone had similar hype and people rushed to get it untested, now the gripes and lawsuits are starting to crop up mere months later. Hmm can we sue for our 3.5 money back?
