    TSR Darlene tells NuTSR NO!

well, it's disheartening to read that TSR treated Darlene, the woman who made those gorgeous WoG maps, like dirt. Was always curious as to how long it took her to make those...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

I started gaming not long after they first appeared in G3... of all the problematic stuff in 1E, the only thing that made me think 'geez, that's not right' was the notorious 'random prostitute' table in the back of the DMG...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

the Drow is the one that, in hindsight, had incredibly bad optics. And yet, no one seemed to connect the dots on that way back in the day. I certainly didn't, and I don't recall anyone in my gaming circle pointing it out. I wonder sometimes if the fact that D&D was invented and played by...

AD&D 1E Any 1e (or 2e) iconic dungeons that never made it to the top 30 list in dungeon magazine?

I have the original I bought way back in 81 or so... it's very far from mint, sadly....

AD&D 1E Any 1e (or 2e) iconic dungeons that never made it to the top 30 list in dungeon magazine?

everyone has favorites that might not make other people's lists. Mine is I1 Dwellers of the Forbidden City. I loved the pulp fiction nature of it...

Greyhawk module before Scourge of the slave lords?

depends too on which edition you're using. IIRC, the giants were bigger in 2E. No idea about the later editions....

    D&D Older Editions

which I appreciate. I've nothing against 5E in general, but I'm long out of gaming and like to reminisce about 'the good old days'. My main interest in this forum is stuff from 1E and 2E, and it's nice having it in one place...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

I'm the same... I always sum him up as 'great ideas, kind of a turgid writer, despicable politics'. That said, there are a couple of his stories that I found to be fascinating, particularly "At the Mountains of Madness"...

    TSR Best D&D Novels

I read most of them through the 2E years. Most of them were forgettable (and I've indeed forgotten them). Of the ones I liked most, I'd say the first two Drizzt trilogies, the first two Dragonlance trilogies, the Maztica and Horde trilogies, the two Moonshae trilogies, and The Ring of Winter....

D&D General Which Sacred Cow Will Be The Last To Slaughter?

from a simple 'easy to remove from the rules system', alignment seems like the easiest to toss. It doesn't really have much weight in the system, and could be abandoned rather easily...

    D&D General Honapo

that is impressive work. Reaper does have some 'elephant people' in their Bones line, but they look quite a bit different.

D&D General Which Sacred Cow Will Be The Last To Slaughter?

Alignment seems like a good bet for the first thing to go.

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

Yeah! I went to MSU too (way back in the early 80s), which is where I discovered D&D. Go Bobcats!

TSR TSR3.5 Launches IndieGogo Campaign to "Stop" WotC

man, this thread about doubled in size since I looked at it last... and now, TSR3 has dropped the lawsuit and it's all moot anyway... dang, what a bizarre incident....

TSR TSR3.5 Launches IndieGogo Campaign to "Stop" WotC

yeah, sure did. Has anyone else here who's on FB signed up with the assorted gaming groups there? I'm on 5 D&D groups, 2 miniature groups, and an Avalon Hill group. That's about 80% of what I do on FB anymore....

D&D General Experiences Re-Drawing Adventure Maps?

I didn't generally redraw dungeon maps, but I redrew large scale maps a lot. When I combined B2 and B5 into one big gaming area with the Keep in the middle, I had to redraw the outdoor map for B5 a lot to fit it onto the B2 map. Luckily, the outdoor maps for both were grid squares and the same...
