    Another polearm feat

Hm. It actually sounds like someone with TWF feats could use the haft to attack TWICE if he wanted to, using the haft as a "quarterstaff of his size". He couldn't use Shove Back, unless he shoved back one adjacent enemy and attacked a second one, both at his full attack bonus, then finished...

    Elymasti, an arctic bird/reptile people

Thanks, Azure. So far I definitely agree with you, but I'm still curious about what powerful abilities outside of combat are granted by the moderate elyx flight capabilities. To answer your question: That's in the revision I added a few posts ago. I may re-post the race with those changes...

    Another polearm feat

This post has been retired to a nice little home in St. Petersburg, Florida. If you wish to visit, it'll be in the blue ranch house with the pink shutters, next to Pott's Doggie Shop. Thank you for your patience. Or patients... if you happen to be an M.D. into outsourcing

    Warmage Edge and Arcane Strike

If I had a warmage/swashbuckler with the Arcane Strike feat, could the Warmage Edge and Insightful Strike be simultaniously applied to a single blow with a melee finesse weapon and its Arcane Strike-enhanced magic component? The Insightful Strike would most definitely apply, adding my Int bonus...

    Another polearm feat

Does "Seatback" have any prerequisites of its own (I would hope not, the prereqs are steep enough as is), and where on earth is it from/what does it do? As for your feat itself, I like it ALOT. It always bugged me that the spiked chain got so much attention as a reach weapon simply because it...

    Elymasti, an arctic bird/reptile people

Ok, I'm definitely not understanding the "outside of combat" power offered by this poor flying ability. The first shot-in-the-dark guess I have is in getting over cliffs, walls, and other high things, but I've analyzed that and found it to be potentially even more challenging to an elyx...

    Arcane Tussler PrC

Great idea! 'Twas something I'd overlooked completely. Bards are set as far as buffs go. Otherwise, It looks as though there won't be many spell slots for buffs left per day after meeting prereq's, unless the player takes more than the minimum spellcasting levels. In that case, I'd like to...

    Arcane Tussler PrC

Hm, "Arcane Charge"... I like that. Is that an existing ability I could look up, or one you made on the fly? My first thought (which I went with so as not to add too many wonderous abilities to the PrC) was to let the player come up with a way to close the distance him/herself. After all, a...

    Elymasti, an arctic bird/reptile people

Here, I made these ideas concrete rules. These replace the 3rd and 4th bullet points, and add 2 more: ۰ Base speed: 20 feet standard. 40 feet flying. ۰ An elymastix has Average flying maneuverability and can fly straight and level if she maintains forward movement of at least 30 feet per...

    Elymasti, an arctic bird/reptile people

Hm. The spirit of the Elyx flying ability is for a nomadic lifestyle in challenging terrain. It's meant for lots of movement, not for a dive-bomber extraordinaire or a spellcaster/archer who can always stay out of counter-attack range. So, in light of this desire not to set up for power-play...

What would a monk have to give up?

Heh, that's odd. I never liked the "whole flavor" of the monk class. Monks are like Bruce Lee, able to kill anything that comes at them despite being half-naked and crazy. Yet EVERYONE wants to be a monk. There was only even ONE Bruce Lee, and maybe, just MAYBE a handful of men like him...

    is this balanced?

Honestly, I like the "priest" ideas floating around out there FAR more than the basic cleric. They have a much better feeling to them of a guy who's just looking to hook a brother in arms up with some healin' goodness. The "holy man with a sword" role is filled nicely by paladins, and so the...

Feat and Prc progression for a scout

Scout X/Wizard 1/Elf Paragon 3/Arcane Archer 2 Wow, that's alot of multiclassing. Don't prestige classes count for the multiclass XP penalties? Elf Paragon doesn't, and Wizard is ignored by elves for XP penalties, but unless the Scout levels max out at 3 here, or Arcane Archer doesn't count...

    Elymasti, an arctic bird/reptile people

Hm. I haven't personally encountered a situation during play in which an Elyx character abused his ability to fly, and those who role-played very well actually got themselves into more trouble than otherwise by flying in civilized lands. I'm curious as to why flying is considered a power-play...

    Arcane Tussler PrC

Here you go! Most of what I could say about this is found under "Concept:" but I'd like to point out that I already know an unarmed-attacking spellcaster in an odd dichotomy. I like roleplaying characters with twists and turns in their lives, so I tend to make PrCs with some interesting...

    PRCS for a warmage?

How about Warmage (6)/Swashbuckler (4) with the Arcane Strike feat? I do believe that Warmage Edge can be applied to a strike enhanced by a spell using Arcane Strike. Using a finesse weapon, that would mean Int could be applied to damage rolls twice. Extra Edge makes that even nastier. Of...

    My alt sorcerer

Metamagic is INTENDED to be tricky stuff. Wizards can manage it just fine, but that's because they study rigorously and take extra time to prepare their spells ahead of time. Sorcerers working on the fly to, for instance, manipulate their fireball into 3 seperately aimed wirlwinds of fire...

    Free Lesser Metamagic for Sorcerers?

It shouldn't be compatible with Divine Metamagic, though. Only metamagic feats you actually take should work with that. All the rest that you use with this Metamagician feat (heh, I like that name) have to actually use higher spell slots.
