I agree completely with this- I want to see variety. It bugs me to no end when a game is filled with one artist or one style the entire way through. I think that's why I didn't get into the Dark Sun art or the Planescape art as much as others... I liked it, but it was overwhelming.

I'm just going to disagree with you there. If I can bolt on these "modules" and end up with the game I want to play, I'm not going to argue against there being another way for people to play the game. I think above all else that's the biggest failure 3e and 4e "created." They kind of ushered...

Sure, but if the aim is to start with a game that resembles basic (or at least allows you to have the same "feel") and then have options you can layer on top to get a more 4e feel who cares? Personally I'd like to see an "easy version" of ALL the characters to start... I'd be less upset about...

Maybe they could do something with a magic missile... or fireball. :P

A month or so back? There was another "Look I'm leaking the play test!" thread. That one painted a picture where everything was almost exactly like 4e with a few modifications. Like the exact opposite of this. In that thread all the anti-4e peeps were gnashing teeth and ready to disown WoTC...

Sooooo at this point we've seen a play test leak that points to a game that is very much like 4e, and another with a leak saying the game is very much NOT like 4e.

Hussar aww man I'ma have to dissagree with you on these two. These two demonstrate how fueled by LSD and Mushrooms the 70s and 80s were. I think above all THAT is what is missing from today's editions. :)

Completely agree here... Case in point my red box copy of Basic D&D (the one with the Otus picture on the front.) It's laid out prettyy clearly, the charts and tables and rules are pretty easy to "consume" but interspersed with weird illustrations and game play descriptive content which totally...

I don't agree I guess- What does money have to do with it? Back in the day white wolf came out with those clan pins for the different vampire clans. I bought one of them... Don't remember which malkavian maybe? It was fun to wear it and get a reaction from people "in the know." I doubt anyone...

I'm not sure it's that general though. In this case they are undead, and turn undead is a thing that specifically effects them.

What do you find fiddly and involved about it? Seems relatively straight forward to me.

I'd like Dragons to start as Large bestial powerful beings. Add options for giving them spells if wanted/needed. Maybe give "possible spell selections" in the entry.
