Primal Items are up now instead of tomorow

I think this is a better direct link. That links to the articles page instead of the calendar, or the direct file. Half a surge value is quite a bit of damage for the soulfang items, though. I wonder how it works in play.

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

I went for the 4E project. In fact, variations on this have been around for a while as potential projects, haven't they? I recall this as an option and I have missed all the projects since Nic Logue's project.

    Storytelling vs Roleplaying

But you are missing the first point. The first thing you need to do in this sort of discussion is agree on a meaning for the term "roleplaying game." In fact, I think the most argument laden term in such discussions is the term "roleplaying." To some, you are roleplaying if you are sitting...

    Storytelling vs Roleplaying

I disagree, somewhat. One thing a good friend of mine taught me is that before you have an argument you have to agree on definitions. In this case, if you can't agree on a definition for "roleplaying game" than you can't agree on what qualifies since you are really using different things that...

Pathfinder 1E So what did the ENnies do for publishers besides PAizo and WOTC?

If I was a publisher, I would be looking to see if there are any sales spikes between the nomination announcement and shortly after the awards. Of course, reading that can be tricky (and probably extremely challenging for print publishers). As for me, it hasn't influenced any sales. Of...

DM Rewards: Hommlet and Ship Tiles (Soilers)

Emailed them earlier this week and have a response. They are fixing the problem by sending me a copy in a week or two. Great! I was never in a rush, except for the fact that they ran out last time.

    Knowledge checks remove mystery?

One thing I liked in the Eberron campaign setting is that they had 2 extra levels of knowledge for world related bits. They had "Common Knowledge" (which everyone knew) and "Secret Knowledge" ( which no one knows). The first didn't require a knowledge check and the second could never be found...

DM Rewards: Hommlet and Ship Tiles (Soilers)

I guess I will have to send off another problem case for them. I was assured the first time my module would be shipped in August. Ah well...

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

To build on Keith's comment about limiting certain rituals only to Dragonmarked characters.... I think it would be a good idea to add rituals that only can be gained by those with a certain dragonmark. It could be a good excuse to introduce a ritual from a new splatbook, or a third party book...

DM Rewards: Hommlet and Ship Tiles (Soilers)

Was it one shipment or two? I got my ships today, but my Hommlet is still MIA. It's quite ironic because my brother got his the first wave (as did some of my players) and I am almost always the one running games. My brother runs a few times, but it's pretty much me DMing.

What game system have you tried that made you go WOW!

Same here, except it was '81. For a bigger "Wow" it would have to be James Bond. I don't think I played an RPG that was as true to the source material. The basics were strong enough to be used today, but it would need an overhaul of that base given the way game design has evolved. ]Hero...

Is this the Golden Age of Roleplaying?

If you asked someone on the street in the 80s, it would usually have been pretty negative. In fact, it's probably much more tolerated today, with such cultural touchstones as World of Warcraft, etc. If WotC was smart, they would put their marketing people in touch with the people behind Big...

Is this the Golden Age of Roleplaying?

In at least one edit of my message I did ;) I think the ability to find a new game and game with new people is a good measure. The other factors are certainly there, but if they don't contribute to that, then it isn't a "golden age." It doesn't matter if you personally want a new game or new...

    I have Adventure Vault 2

As it happens, new (and classic) artifacts have been mentioned as being in the DMG II.

Is this the Golden Age of Roleplaying?

I was into D&D in the late 70s. I don't consider that the golden age. Not I. Quality of the actual tabletop gaming I would consider. However, that is even more personal since no one can even begin to experience enough to judge.

Is this the Golden Age of Roleplaying?

I'll go with the early 80s as well (specifically the early 80s). I could go into just about any major town, find the local game store and go in and find out when they were running games. In certain areas you could walk in any night of the week and find an RPG, and often several on weekends (my...

    I have Adventure Vault 2

That makes sense. The PHB series was supposedly designed so that more complicated classes come later. This would follow the pattern in that more complicated magic items come later. Note I am not saying they are hard to understand. But tracking different numbers of charges certainly adds...

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

Exactly. My House Jorasco dragonmarked wizard would have no real benefit from the dragonmark unless I took alchemy instead of ritual caster.

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

One adventure, one prestige class (and a pretty despised prestige class for that very reason).

    Reviews: positive or negative

The local paper used to have a reviewer that I loved. I disagreed with his conclusion in about 1 in 5 of his reviews. However, I could tell based on his review whether I would like a movie based on his reasons for liking or disliking a movie. Find a reviewer like that, and follow his reviews...
