    Suggest some books

David Webber has a number of rollicking good SF space opera books. His Honor Harrington books are basically Horatio Hornblower in Space. The Dahak (Empire) series is a lot of fun too. The first two books in his fantasy Series (Oath of Swords and War God's Own) are great fantasies. You might...

Shilsen's Eberron SH (Finished - The Last Word : 9/20/15)

Welcome to the cult. Robe fittings are at 9:30 am sharp. Yeah, I'm glad Sep seems to have found his muse again. For a while there we were going 9 mo - 1 yr between updates. I do wish he'd offer some insights into how he manages to make things work at those power levels though.

Well, of course he didn't stay dead.

In other news the sun rose this morning and water is wet. When you have cloning, magic, reality warping psionics, time travel, alternate timelines, alternate realities, ultra-tech, literal Deus Ex Machinas and any other plot device you'd care to imagine. It is impossible to ever kill off a...

Rate the new Star Trek Film

I find a lot of this sort of preference tends to come down to an "imprinting" effect. IE. what did you encounter first or at the right time in your life.

Actually they aren't all that much younger. Most of SToS was in their mid/late thirties and most of the new cast is in their early thirties.

The original monk, David Carradine, has passed.

Yes, very sad. He was a movie star in the grand tradition. Have they arrested Uma Thurman yet? Edit: I just heard it might have been suicide.

Good idea? Every phb wizard spell up to 6th in his spellbooks

I've been running a wizard in Shilsen's campaign with full access to all PHB spells and 2 SC spells per level. In theory, it is very powerful. However, it really hasn't changed much of anything from a practical point of view. 99% of the time I'm using the spells I'd have taken/acquired...

Shilsen's Eberron SH (Finished - The Last Word : 9/20/15)

We actually were planning on keeping the feebleminded Mind Flayer, Nameless zapped in the mournland, but it didn't work out. Besides if we kept the dragon, then Luna would have been endlessly dragging home ANYTHING Nameless feebleminded (Daelkyr, politicians, her dates...)

Shilsen's Eberron SH (Finished - The Last Word : 9/20/15)

This dragon was indeed very, very nasty, but it was no Xagy. If it had been that bad he would probably have had an outright revolt on his hands. Xagy we were willing suck it up with because - A) It was basically our own dammed fault - Shil did "underplay" his power to a certain extent ("It's...

Shilsen's Eberron SH (Finished - The Last Word : 9/20/15)

Well Six should look something like a male version of the android in this. Since his name is a elaborate reference to it (Mythril 6 of 6 - AKA M-66). Luna is typically an either an ENORMOUS bear or a tendriculous. Both bloated compared to regular creatures. One of Mordain's "improvements" makes...

You forgot to add "greedy" ;)

Shilsen's Eberron SH (Finished - The Last Word : 9/20/15)

To be honest it was never something I gave much thought to. But here's a compilation of some of the the aspects that have come up in the past with a degree of elaboration. Nameless typically uses a hat of disguise to appear extremely nondescript and forgettable. Unless someone looks into his...

Rate the new Star Trek Film

I really enjoyed it. It's the third best trek film ever (Khan is #1 and #2 is Galaxy Quest) LOVED Urban as Bones. Quinto was very good as Spock. Pegg is hilarious as always and makes a great Scotty. Pine was okay, but missed out on one of Kirk's defining characteristics, his rock solid...

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

I've read most of it, but while he does discuss why he gave X this or Y that, he doesn't (that I recall) spend much time on how he makes things like a DC 88 spell "balance" vs people who have a save of +30. When you get to the point that a d20 roll can't possibly make a difference is one of the...

    Fallout 3 - Today's the day!

So it turned out to be a 6 month delay on the DLC for the PS3. Fallout 3 DLC coming to PS3, with upcoming new content - Ars Technica Late june for the "Operation : Anchorage", with "Broken Steel" and "The Pitt" following at 4-6 wk intervals. The two newly announced DLCs are also coming to the...

The Chronicle of Burne, and Some Others of Lesser Importance *Updated May 17th, 2009*

I've tried nagging Burne and Mallus for updates. If they don't post something by the 19th. I'll start posting some of email/web board stuff. Not going to be as good as if it were the real thing, but there's still some stuff from them in there.

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

Can anyone point me to some threads (if they exist) where Sep discusses how he makes this sort of campaign work, creates challenges and balances out things? One of the high level campaigns I'm in has hit some "problems" in these areas and it would be nice to have some insight into how Sep does it.

    New Hammers Slammers Preview

Fascinating. I spent endless hours with the original Traveler "Striker" system attempting to re-created the hover tanks and combat cars. I will keep an eye out for this.
