    Canned food recall - Botulism

This recall sucks. I had just finished making nacho dip with the chili sauce, when I see the recall on the news. My wife already knew about it and didn't say anything or throw the sauce out. I had to dump out the dip and go buy new ingredients and make it all over again

What size groups are you most comfortable DMing for?

I'm good for 3-6 with an optimal four or five players. Any more than six and the game starts to bog down. I also like running one on one campaigns, which tend to be primarily story driven.

    Passing notes at the table

I voted yes, but would've voted sometimes had that been an option. As a GM I either pass a note to the player(s) concerned or pull him/her/them aside with no regularity for one method or the other. If players want to pass notes to each other, it has to go through me, so I know what said...

    Giving up on the Quest

IMC, I started the characters off as all volunteering for small mission by their current employer. Once they had completed said mission, I gave them the option of continuing to work for their employerr or break off go their own way (it paid off in a goddly sum of money for my campaign). They...

Gaming in the Military - Your Experiences?

I was in the Army from '88-'91. Was sent to Germany for permanant party. I had my parents ship my 1e stuff over to me. Discovered FR by picking up the box-set from the Stars and Stripes bookstore. Picked up a lot of stuff from Stars and Stripes actually, rounded out my collection of 1e...

Where do you think up your best ideas?

I get ideas while doing all sorts of things, not any one thing in particular seems to stand out for ideas, great or otherwise. However, if I wanted to expand upon the idea and say write it up for future reference, then the sweet time is just as I'm falling asleep. I couldn't begin to count the...

Homebrewers: How Publishable is Your Brew?

Another GM could use my stuff with tweaking. I may be in trouble for some copyright or IP, but I try my damndest to just come up with my own names based on someone elses idea, but add enough changes that it's now mine. I spend a lot of free time at work writing everything up, once I'm done...

Macguffin quest without a macguffin, how would you respond?

Heh, I like it. But I like those kind of twists of fate (or whatever). So long as I had fun while adventuring, chasing after the phantom McGuffin, then it's a good game. I like Nifft's twist about coming home and having to restore order because YOAE has done been and gone. What was this...

Anyone here ever bought a refrigerator?

I'll echo what others have said about measuring your space where the refrigerator sits, the doorway any new refrigerator is to come through and the refrigerator in question. I bought a 25 cubic foot, fridge nine years ago. To get it into the house, I had to remove the back door and the door...

Anyone ever play with a female DM?

Can't say as I've ever had a female GM. In 26 years of gaming I'm personally aware of only one female who ran any kind of game. An ex-wife of a buddy of mine, I missed the experience due to a heavy workload at the time, but I hate her guts, so it's probably a good thing I missed 'cause I'd...

What is your local game store situation?

I know of one in my area for certain, it's maybe a ten minute drive at best from my home. There was a second maybe 30-45 minutes drive from my home, but I'm not sure it's still in business (I checked it out once, not long after it opened). I don't count the chain retail book stores (Borders...

    Obscure RPGs

I have a game called Ultra Combat. It's based on a futuristic high-tech setting. I wouldn't go so far as to call it sci-fi, except where some of the technology is concerned. It's completely humanocentric. Too many of the game mechanics only make sense when using the provided setting fluff...

Dragon Appreciation: Which are your favorite Dragon comic series?

Wormy and Snarfquest are the only two to get my vote. Except for picking up an oddball Dragon (less than ten issues), I never read the magazine, with the exception of a one year subscription which was gift from a relative. Wormy and Snarfquest are the only comic series names which still linger...

    DM or GM?

I like the sound of GM. Back in my early gaming days, it seemed like all other products used the term GM, while only D&D produncts used the term DM. Somewhere along the way, it turned out I just liked the sound of the more generic term of GM for the person filling in the role of...

Monte Cook is writing a fantasy novel

Only a very small number of Authors exist, for whom I have or will buy a book sight unseen. And I've even gotten burned by some of those said Authors, because some of the books I picked up sight unseen turned out to be, IMO, crap (luckily it's only happened a few times). If I can't get a...

    Do you participate in Polls?

Well, I voted "No" just because I could. And because those Gallup folks have never come around my door (phone, mailbox, etc.). I don't do surveys either (unless part of a registration process to set up an online account in order to make a purchase).

    Oops! I think I killed rpg.net

Wednesday night (6/6/07) Enworld went to la la land on me twice while posting a reply and wouldn't even come up most of the time I tried getting back on (3 different pc's, two different zip codes). But rpgnet worked fine (I have an account but have yet to post there, I visit maybe once every 2...

What type(s) of environment are you primarily campaigning in?

For my current Homebrew setting, the party is adventuring in a temperate forest/plains area right along the edges of a mountain range. The party is from a megatropolis on another prime plane and came to their current environs via a gate, and as soon as they figure out how to operate the gate I...

How do you like your halflings best?

I prefer mine to be more Tolkinesque only because Tolkien was my first and only inspiration for small peoples until Dragonlance came along. Kender are great for fictional characters but a pain for a GM if role played correctly IMHO. I have no experience with Dark Sun and my experiences with...

What percentage of your RPG time are you DMing?

I almost rarely play, so I chose 81-99%. I find GMing to be much better outlet for my imagination than playing.
