    Victorian Era Map Search

Hey all, I'm gearing up to run a Savage Worlds Rippers campaign. Think Victorian-era monster hunters. I'm looking to build a library of maps and tiles that would serve this game for minis combat. I have a bunch of D&D map tiles as well as a handful of fold-out maps, but most of these are...

    Steam Punkin'

Some ideas: A carnival sideshow might include a tent filled with the skeletons or preserved bodies of strange creatures for viewing by the paying public. Preserved bodies might be in "steam-punky" chambers that keep them alive but stunned/dazed. If released, they attack. Skeletal forms might be...

The homepage for this month's issue of Dungeon now features the "cover art" for this issue of Dungeon. It's the cover art for my adventure, "Grasp of Thalarkis," which will come out later this month. Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Table of Contents (Dungeon #203 Table...

    June 2012 - Dragon 412 & Dungeon 203 TOCs

Congrats, Klaus. I wrote "Grasp of Thalarkis," from a pitch I made a year ago. I'm pretty proud of it as well. Six months ago, I pitched an idea for an article detailing sailing the seas, ship layouts, ship-to-ship combat, etc. I was told that someone else had beat me to the punch and that...

Anyone know about historical sea traditions, religion, folklore?

And a lexicon: • Advance Note - advance wages, generally given to experienced sailors to have one last bash before setting sail and/or to buy personal gear • Aft - behind the ship • Aftcastle - the below-deck portion of a ship at the back of the ship, often containing the master’s cabin and the...

Anyone know about historical sea traditions, religion, folklore?

Compiled for a few different nautical campaigns over the years: Sailor Superstitions Things that are bad luck • Killing an albatross. • Black traveling bags on a ship. • Red-heads on board a ship, but bad luck can be averted if you speak to them before they speak to you. • Stepping onto a ship...

    Advantages / Disadvantages

Count me in on rolling two dice. It's more dynamic than a +2/-2 and affects the liklihood of rolling crits. Awesome! Someone in another thread did a rundown of the stastical changes in rolling two dice. The equivalent bonus/penalty was +/-3.3, if I recall correctly.

    My new game is announced!

Joffrey-slapping is good. Will the game allow a player to wear multiple rings on their Joffrey-slapping hand? Big, clunky, pointy rings?

GenCon - WotC's "secret seminar" - What is the Sundering?

Now that GenCon event registration has opened, I gotta ask... How many of you discovered Wizards' secret mystery seminar? What is the Sundering? (SEM1233080) - Gen Con Indy 2012 "D&D" isn't in the seminar title. It's being offered at two different times and is two hours long. "Host" is listed...

I'm reading the entire Walking Dead graphic novel. I'm about halfway through it.

April submissions to the online Dragon & Dungeon

I've primarily written adventures lately. Baba Yaga's Dancing Hut, plus three others in the pipe. So, it seems WotC likes me for adventures. I've got a few proposals worked up and am exploring a few other ideas. That said, I'd like to do some more PC-oriented stuff (Winning Races, Class Acts...

    Name this TV show.

This entire thread is a bit of a joke. The descriptions I've given are true for both LOST and Alcatraz.

    Name this TV show.

Most of the characters speak with a generic, "American" accent. The "American" accent that most characters on shows created in Hollywood use.

    Name this TV show.

The vast majority of the characters on the show speak English.

    Name this TV show.

This reminds me of something else about the show I should mention. One of the main characters is a very likable, happy-go-lucky guy who is overweight. He is often paired up with a smaller, skinnier character who is often a major player in the show's storylines.

    Your d20...an inny or outy?

I find this variance odd, but also oddly interesting. Have you ever questioned your players as to why they like to see certain games rolled out in the open and others rolled behind the screen? Is there a strong consensus between the players on these different games and how they want you to roll?

    Your d20...an inny or outy?

I GM and play in roughly equal percentages. I run my game at my home in my living room. Everyone sits in chairs and a sofa around a coffee table which holds the battlemat, minis, etc. I roll in the open on an end table next to my chair, at one "head end" of the coffee table. Most of the players...
