"Murders & Acquisitions" Game Design Blog

Thanks. If you think you can commit a group to running four adventures in a sort of mini-campaign, drop me a message here with your email address and I'll put you on the list of potential playtesters. I'll almost certainly make another announcement here once I'm ready to (yikes) give the game...

"Murders & Acquisitions" Game Design Blog

Hey all, Pimping my game design blog. http://newworldalchemy.com/wp/byline/craig-campbell/ “Murders & Acquisitions” is a tabletop RPG set in an alternate real world Earth where espionage, subterfuge, intrigue, and murder are the norm in corporate culture, and even taken to extremes. The PCs...

    WotC Setting Search Runner ups

Some years ago, I learned that the setting entry I developed with Jason Bulmahn made it into about the top 50 or so. It was the one-page write-up that everyone entering the contest created. We both lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the time and gamed together regularly. Neither of us ever took...

A little over a year ago, my friend Mike and I started up a geeky podcast called NerdBurger. We've recently hit triple digits of listeners and want even more. We're greedy like that. So, check it out and share it with your friends/family/whomever via your favorite social media...

Seeking Someone to Do a Game System Statistical Analysis

Hey there ENWorlders, Every now and then I see someone post a statistical breakdown of probabilities with certain types of dice hitting different target numbers. I'm designing a tabletop RPG and am looking for someone who would be willing to do a statistical breakdown of such things for my...

I'm Designing an RPG About Working in an Office...With a Twist.

I've sent out playtest materials to about a dozen friends and industry contacts around the US. So it looks like I can successfully take my notes and turn them into a rule book of sorts. Or at least they'll tell me if I was successful. 17 page Player Guide 7 page Supervisor Guide A bunch of...

I'm Designing an RPG About Working in an Office...With a Twist.

Yeah, it certainly has some themes in common with Paranoia. Which I consider a feature of the game. :-)

I'm Designing an RPG About Working in an Office...With a Twist.

I lean toward one-shots and mini-campaigns (perhaps 6-10 sessions). Character advancement will support shorter campaigns. But if a group really wanted to play a much longer campaign, I suppose they could by just "leveling up" a little more slowly.

I'm Designing an RPG About Working in an Office...With a Twist.

Hey there, I'm Craig Campbell. I've been working as a freelance game designer in my free time (I have a day job as an architect) for five years or so. I've designed primarily for D&D, along with some stuff for Pathfinder and Gamma World. Primarily articles and adventures in Dragon and Dungeon...

Seeking Advice for Finding Sponsors for Small, Local Convention

I figured I'd toss this out there and see what you folks might know. My friend started up a small, local gaming convention last year called AndoCon. They were shooting for 100 or so people and got 300. They expect to grow to at least 400 this year. http://www.andocon.org/ Last year, they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Gen Con D&D Next Events

When will we know what four slots the All Access thing is running in? Before event registration begins, I hope. If WotC stuff doesn't come out until after registration kicks off, people are gonna have a hard time planning for getting in on non-D&D stuff and keeping the right slots open for...

    Looking for GenCon Events Website

The spreadsheet of events provided by GenCon is huge and hard to use (at least for me). I recall there being a website that listed events at GenCon by year, date, time, event category, etc. It had a beige background and was very minimalist in design. It had all the info the spreadsheet had but...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Release Date Set -- Summer 2014

Now is a great time to make such an announcement. We're heading into the Christmas/New Years holidays and many of us will have more free time to talk online, speculate, and build anticipation. The next few weeks will be a near-constant swirl of fan-generated promotion online.

    D&D 5E (2014) Whats your dealbreaker for 5E?

There's no such thing as a "deal breaker" for me. I've played several editions of D&D, plus Pathfinder. Plus a wide variety of other games. If the next edition of D&D is a fun game, I'll play it. So far, I'm enjoying the playtest material. So I expect to buy and play it. When it comes right...
