    Why Do You Subscribe?

Because Digital River is incapable of processing a cancellation request correctly? *rimshot* I'm totally down with the Compendium, find the CB to fit my needs 90% of the time, and loved the Monster Builder for how much custom prep work it saved me (hope the new one is more stable). The...

D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

I think they should have some of their M:TG story/world team people come up with a new world. Those guys have come up with some rather innovative concepts, and pairing their world-building with the D&D design teams mechanical support would give us something quite a bit different than another...

D&D 4E [4E Players, mainly] Ever thought of defecting to Pathfinder?

To be clear, the classes that were going to be in the Class Compendium were not Essentials-style classes ala Slayer and Knight. They were going to be the PHB1 classes with errata incorporated, but presented in the same layout as the Essentials classes. The Weaponmaster Fighter = the PHB1 Fighter.

Dear Wizards, I no longer have a clue what you're doing

"Rules for Fantastic Medieval Wargames Campaigns Playable with Paper and Pencil and Miniature Figures" They reimagined a game that began as a miniatures-based combat game into a miniatures-based combat game. Not to mentions the decades in between where all the measurements in the game were...

    Rules clarification - Power Effects

Anything listed under a Hit: section occurs on a successful attack. Anything listed under a Miss: section occurs on a failed attack. Anything listed under an Effect: section occurs. Period.

Dear Wizards, I no longer have a clue what you're doing

*yawn* This tired argument has been made since 1997. After 14 years of it being wrong, you think people would actually give up on it.

Fortune Cards, we just received a preview

Indeed. The first mention of Fortune Cards at GenCon 2010 was explicit about them being sold in random booster decks. And the deck-building aspect is really nonexistent, since you can't combine the cards into combos and cascades like you do in Magic. They are isolated effects, used one at a...

    Another solid article - Strongholds

My players had recently been given the deed to an estate and they were in the process of digging up construction materials and workers to rebuild the keep. This article will be a huge boon to us, and combining it with the Harrowing Halls DT set will make the piecemeal-add-a-room-at-a-time...

What do you think of the Deluxe DM Screen?

... Essentials is 10 evergreen products, not a game line. 4e is the game line.

old dungeon tiles sets still worth the buy?

Keeping something in print isn't as easy as people seem to think, especially when you've got to print a fairly large volume without a guarantee of sell-through the second time around. You can still find some of the more recent sets for their MSRP or lower on Amazon and Ebay, which indicates...

D&D 5E (2014) Neverwinter is the next setting! (Did we know this?)

WotC typically only lists things 1-2 quarters ahead in their catalog. That's why the catalog cuts off at June (Q2), and no Q3/Q4 products are listed (like Ravenloft). Of the three confirmed canceled products, the only one that never made it into the WotC catalog (Hero Builder's Handbook) was a...

Fortune Cards, we just received a preview

Why does everyone act like a DM can't use these cards just like a player can?
  13. The Little Raven

old dungeon tiles sets still worth the buy?

I'd recommend the following: Harrowing Halls - This set will mesh with your City Master Set and give you more interiors to work with. Sinister Woods - This set will mesh with your Wilderness Master Set and give you trees and more varied terrain. Caves of Carnage/Caverns of the Underdark - If...

    D&D has been cancelled (speculation).

...because nobody on an internet forum ever talked out of their ass before? Instead of just "somebody," how about you actually source this claim so it becomes more than just third-hand internet rumor?
  15. The Little Raven

Fortune Cards, we just received a preview

If you're talking 100 different cards in the randomized set, that's 100 different pieces of artwork, along with the increased cost of printing due to small print volume (probably an order of magnitude smaller than a Magic print run, at the least). The cost of that could get out of hand...

D&D 4E [4E Players, mainly] Ever thought of defecting to Pathfinder?

No, they finished development of the Essentials line, since it was a 10-products-and-out set of products. All ten of the products have been released. Essentials are the 10 evergreen products, not every product that uses a similar class design philosophy.
  17. The Little Raven

Ok, now i'm REALLY CONFUSED. AKA, do any of you think you know what WotC is doing?

What does this mean? That this is the first time the D&D brand hasn't been at the top of its game? Did you miss the mid-1990s when TSR ceased publishing any products for 6 months because their D&D business model helped kill the company? Last I checked, WotC could pay its employees and still...

    On WotC's "Surge"

Yeah, if you make incredibly vague statements, two things can look very similar. But when you take into account the actual details of TSR's condition, via Ryan Dancey, they aren't so similar... Nothing indicates any of this is occurring at WotC, so the comparison is incredibly weak.

Dear Wizards, I no longer have a clue what you're doing

Nothing from the DM's Kit is in there, it seems. The Staff of the Magi is missing, and the Holy Avenger is marked as Uncommon when I remember it being one of the only Rares in the game upon the DM's Kit's release.
  20. The Little Raven

Dear Wizards, I no longer have a clue what you're doing

According to Wizards, the D&D Compendium is the latest source for any game element. It lists the Gauntlets as a Level 5 Uncommon item with a Daily power that adds a +5 power bonus to an attack. However, it appears the Compendium does not have the DM's Kit data included, but does have the other...
