Essentials: Magic Item Rarity Explained, it's actually good!

There's more to those races to define them as the woodsy and magic elves than just a +2 Int or Wis. The Elf is still trained in the weapons of a wilderness hunter, while the Eladrin is trained in the weapon of a fey noble. The Elf is experienced at easy moving through brush and wilderness to the...

Upgradeable Powers - Useful outside Themes?

Third. The first was Dragon 381, with the Honest Few article.

    Essentials - calling a spade a spade

No, it was directed at those who still engage in edition-warring and particularly like to do it in errata/Essentials threads.

    DM's kit preview

It's possible to exclude game elements from any source currently, down to selecting which ones are excluded on a item-by-item basis. I don't see why it would be any different for the Essentials content.

Is the Premium Store Thing Working?

It feels no different than paying for super-fast shipping, except for the fact that I get it even sooner.

Is the Premium Store Thing Working?

I bought the PHB1/MM1/DMG1 at my FLGS, then everything after on Amazon... until I found out my store had Dark Sun 11 days early, and while I was there, I picked up the third GoT board game expansion, the Anima card game expansion, and some dice. This is a definite success.

    Rules Compendium

I'm getting the Red Box just to hand to brand new players. The choose-your-own-adventure-style character creation really helps people wrap their minds around what you do in an RPG.

    Rules Compendium

The second printing was ordered before the books were released. The third printing was ordered within a few months after release. This was all before the Stealth errata was released.

    Essentials: which new players?

NO. They created a new design structure to exist alongside the original one. They are creating more options for the sliding scale of player-types (from the super-tactical fiddly players to the simpler, point-and-shoot players), so that no matter what your preference, you've got something to...

To Mike Mearls: Melee training and the Battlemind

And it is still boosted. After the change, the effective swing is +6 hit/+3 damage. So now it equals two epic level feats and another feat combined, instead of exceeding them. It is still perfectly practical.

To Mike Mearls: Melee training and the Battlemind

This single feat can swing your attack and damage by 6 points (-1 with Str 8, +5 with another ability score at 20) at first level. Weapon Focus, Weapon Expertise, and Weapon Proficiency can't even do that at level 25. No single feat should outperform epic-tier scaled version of two other feats...

To Mike Mearls: Melee training and the Battlemind

First off, two feats does not a chain make, especially when the first feat may not even be necessary depending on other factors. Secondly, losing a couple points of damage on a melee attack is not a huge deal for a class whose focus is specifically NOT melee attacks. Third, if he wants to be a...

    WotC is Listening

Honestly, you should give wishlists a try, just to see if it makes it easier on you. Let your players know upfront that a wishlist does not guarantee they will get the item, it's just an aid for you to know what type of items the player is leaning towards. I do wishlists, and and randomly select...

Mordenkainen's Magical Emporium & magic items

Yup. You can just filter the items section with the FRCG as the source. Crown of Whispers, Goblin Totem, and Greatsword of Impiltur are listed as "Storied Items" and just appear to be regular items with some story attached to them. The Horn Totem and Skull Totem appear in the Loudwater...

Mordenkainen's Magical Emporium & magic items

Minor artifacts were introduced in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide back in 2008, but I don't recall anything else done with them afterwards. They are given levels, but are obviously more powerful than items of the same level, but not quite on par with artifacts.

New "Red Box" Starter Set hands-on preview

Okay, so they traded the bonus at-will power for Human Versaility, and dropped the +1 to all NADs completely? Fighter: Knight is a Defender.

Is WotC announcing a new setting at GenCon?

D&D is the game where characters fight that stuff. Ravenloft was just the setting that took away most of your tools for doing so.

Did WotC underestimate the Paizo effect on 4E?

... Pathfinder was released in August 2009. How could a chart which tracks 11 months of sales for the book end a month before the book was released?

Gen Con: Slavicsek says core books will continue to be published, other tidbits

That tin-foil hat must get awfully hot after a while. This. The thread title also originally used Greg Bisland instead of Bill.
