Hide & sneak attack situation needs help!

The problem to sneak up and stab at the cleric the traditional way is that, without any type of cover in the hallway, he has no place to hide. He has the shadows for now, but once those torches get into range, he has to have someplace to hide to get within melee range. And I don't see how, if...

Hide Skill questions, esp. pertaining to attacking and sneak attacks

I think it was done just fine. I agree there should be a "Facing" rule and do employ one in my games. That part has already been stated. I agree with Coredump's logic on that line about hiding behind the player's head. The other part I'd like to mention is...how many have ever been in a...

    Time God Brainstorming

Wiz, I rather like that. I have definately liked the GH concept of Prime Gods that are native to the world. I even saved and printed out the analogy in your game of the gods' interference in the Prime being akin to trying to rip the wings off a fly. Its a theory that has a great deal of...

How do you handle combat in a play-by-post game? (now with a follow-up question)

I agree with what has been said before - keep the group size down and allow a limit for the time to post. Those are perhaps the most important. Three other things to mention. One is the option to post two rounds at once. It definately speeds things up and if something unforeseen should...

    Time God Brainstorming

Hey Roudi, I just got back from walking my dogs and was pondering the whole Time God and his ability to see the future. I like it and had planned to go with it. One thing I wanted to add to that mix was that he cannot see what influence *his* actions will have on the future. I think it might...

    Time God Brainstorming

Wow...a lot of great ideas here. Thank you kindly everyone. I've got a lot to chew on here and mull over. Biggus, I should reword myself. I'm not into the idea of having the PC's jumping around and trying to change the past. Too many troubles arise I think. Of course, this is just what I'm...

    Time God Brainstorming

Heya all, One video game that I've come to love is Soul Reaver. One aspect they really play up in the series is the aspect of time, fate, and destiny. Anyway, the campaign I'll be running is in the mid-levels where I think the PCs ought to really begin to interact with some of the higher...

How in depth do you role play + rant

My games are kept online, but my DM's have always required role-playing. In the longest lasting game I'm in (running now for about 4-5 years), we can go 2-3 sessions of about 2-3 hours each without combat. Its RPing, whether between PCs or with NPCs concerning the game. I thoroughly enjoy it.

    Rat Bastard DM reading list?

I've found the greatest aide that these boards can offer are the Story Hours. Go glancing and read, read, read. There are plenty of great stories there to enjoy and to learn some great RBing techniques from.

    Piecemeal Armor?

Hey again all, Is anyone aware of any piecemeal rules for 3.0/3.5? I remember they had them back in AD&D and I was wondering if they might have been carried over in some supplement or other d20 publication or even in a home-brew setting. Thanks!

    Glamered armour special quality

I actually had this question just a little while ago actually. Glad someone posted it since I had totally forgotten. As for the answer, I'm not sure but I think that it would probably appear as the same set of clothing.

[NJ, DE, PA and beyond] Southern Exposure [ENworld get-together]

WizarDru, I'll be coming and I'd enjoy a game. I've never played a live table-top game, so you might have to take it easy on me a be a little understanding as, though I've played for 9 years, its still a learning process for me.

    The Nature of "Lawful"

I do believe that a lawful person has a strict code of personal beliefs, but so do chaotic individuals. Whats the difference? The chaotic person's alignment generally adheres to personal freedom at the expense of society. The lawful person has ideas along just the opposite line: the...

    The Nature of "Lawful"

Assuming he knew of the laws, the act was chaotic. He might have felt it just (as I would also) but it was still unlawful in the sense that he failed to follow the laws of the land. A lawful character (hehe...almost used the term paladin) might not always agree with them, but unless they are...

    The Nature of Honor

Even of the most "honorable" paladins I've seen, I've never seen one do that. In terms of D&D, there is a line to honor. You can only go so far with it. If you go any further, it totally ruins the RPing experience and makes it near worthless. As a parallel, lets use the idea of a hermitic...

Mercenaries doing the work of the PCs?

Playing Devil's Advocate here (and since I know this is something that is always heard around the boards here), if the Players don't want to take the time to clear out the Stonelands themselves, then why try to force it on them? Don't we always say that the DM needs to modified his/her game to...

    Expanded Intelligent Item Powers?

Thanks fellows! I hadn't gotten around to pulling my 3.0 book back out yet. Wasn't quite sure what they had in there. Hopefully a few ideas can be culled and converted without too much pain. As for Eldritch Magic, I wasn't aware it had anything like that. Thank you! I'll make sure to look...

    Creating Magic Items/Caster level question

We had considered the guidelines for magical skill bonuses and the Ring of Jumping but the ring provides the bonus continually. The spells only allows it for 1 min/CL, which is a big difference. I was hoping to find something that would help to offset that difference.

    Creating Magic Items/Caster level question

My other question for the day, We're trying to craft a magical weapon. We want to add the first level wizard spell Jump to it as a Command Activation. We've gotten most of the price figured out but are stumped on one aspect of the Caster Level. Namely, the spell Jump has a very different...

    Expanded Intelligent Item Powers?

Hey all, Quick question here. Does anyone know of any expended Intelligent Item Powers tables in any d20 books? I'm just wondering if there is anything more out there before the DMG. Thank you!
