    Opinions sought: Much younger players?

I think you handled things well. Although if I was gaming with an adolescent whose parents I did not know well, I would be tempted to produce a consent form to be signed by the parents (in my presence at that). Like others have said, in this lawsuit-happy time, it pays to be safe; the consent...

    New Texas Monsters

Appears the monsters have been flushed out of their holes by all the rain in Texas: http://apnews.myway.com//article/20070901/D8RCKANO0.html

    Roaring Twenties

I would suggest researching some Mobster/Prohibition/Bootlegging info... Al Capone for instance. Grab that movie "the Untouchables" for some good inspiration. Is your campaign going to be pure historical, or mixed with fantasy/horror/early sci-fi? I agree that Cthulu style horror is a great...

GAHH!! Time to take a break from 3.5

Agreed with OP, although I have not had the opportunity to try an alternative system yet. I have been yearning to just dumb down everything and use Basic Fantasy or C&C instead... and I have an itch to play Star Frontiers for its vastly different character build design (classless and level-less...

Lords of Madness binding and. . . piracy?

I have done some repair work on many books that I acquired used (and sometimes well beaten). This little website can show you how to do some repairs very effectively. http://www.philobiblon.com/bkrepair/BookRepair.html Also, you are in Colorado Springs, so if you wanted, I could see about...

What do you like about Planescape?

The artwork really set a great mood. Fantasy with a slightly odd skew to it... I love it.

    Thinking about using a CS

I would recommend Forgotten Realms: Lots of established material for you to use. Despite all the pre-existing material, there are still lots of regions that can be 'made your own' or areas that have not been explored yet. Lots of crunchy bits (setting specific prcs, spells, magic items, etc)...

    All Alternative Classes Campaign Idea

I had an idea to run an 'all unorthodox' game, players having to use an option from The Le supplements. I have not had a chance to get it off the ground yet, but I still look forward to it.

Were you a 3.x hater when it was announced and are glad you made the switch?

I liked it initially... a lot. It soured slowly over time, although there are a great many things about it that I do like (rules and options). It was the gaming experience itself (prep time, combat length, too complex in some areas) that makes me yearn to go backwards to older editions (or...

    True20 and Ptolus

True20 is really just as complex as standard d20/D&D, but the complexities have been shifted around. Some things simplified, while others made a little less intuitive. Net effect is similar degree of complexity. If you are wanting a truly less complex rule set, while keeping some of the best...

Sounds like your Corporate Secret, is that the corporation is working in cahoots with the Slaver Aliens.

    Dragon/Dungeon archives on CD/DVD?

ixnay. ENWorld does not condone unauthorized copied works. In any event I would rather have actual pdf versions from the source, than the scan/copy-jobs that one would get through nefarious means.

    Dragon/Dungeon archives on CD/DVD?

Poor legal department then. For PDF's then, just blank out the non-reprintable portions. That might be even easier than trying to wrangle releases from them comic people.

    Dragon/Dungeon archives on CD/DVD?

I am pretty sure that after those initial legal problems, anyone who would be published in Dragon/Dungeon would relinquish any legal recourse in regards to reprints, pdfs, compilations, etc. I know I would if I was in charge of their Legal Dept. If someone did not want to sign this away...

How were you first introduced to the roleplaying game genre?

Red Basic Box for me. Loved it. Keep on the Borderlands! Got the Expert set, then slowly migrated in an entirely illogical way to AD&D (sorta hybrid for a while)

Can we please stop calling D&D Insider an MMORPG

I thought this thread was about D&D Insider... and having to pay for use of the online tools and games hosted through it. We are not talking about the books.

Can we please stop calling D&D Insider an MMORPG

I think name calling, or inferred name calling (quite skillfully done Cergorach) is not really necessary. It is my opinion, and I have not seen an argument that really changes it yet.

Can we please stop calling D&D Insider an MMORPG

There is plenty of offline (at least out of game) WoW stuff to browse through. There are areas/information that only subscribers get access to. But you are right, you cant play offline, but somehow I doubt you can play these online d&d games offline either. That is the nature of online games. duh

    Thanks WotC

Honestly, to me, WotC has to prove itself with the actually pudding that is to be served. Marketing hype is just that, marketing hype. I will wait till I see more substance. You see, I just don't trust the folks at WotC. I personally started a thread that questioned the verbage of some...
