Can we please stop calling D&D Insider an MMORPG

If it looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, then it is likely a duck! Pay for online access to games (and other content), play games online, gotta pay subscription rates to play... sounds a lot like the model for MMORG to me.

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

I am indifferent to the logo. While I like the art itself, I don't think it is a good choice for the cover. While I see no need to make a book that looks like a book?!, simpler graphical design looks better to me. A suitable background style (or skin) with a small graphic & logo seems more...

D&D 4E The Realms being the first 4e setting

I think FR is great, but I will not be very interested if they dumb-down all the good stuff of the realms or otherwise strip it to its essentials, in order to make it work nice with the new rule setup. The Realms with all its weird goofiness is what makes it cool.

    D&D vs Windows

I still use a machine with Windows 2000 Professional, and another with XP Professional. I have no plans to migrate to Vista with either, so it seems 4E / $4dventure is a no-go for me.

So does this mean the background for EN World will change?

the whole look of ENWorld is about to change. The future is Neon Green on Black.

What do you want to see in a new magazine?

Print ability is a must, and in a way where users can use the material piecemeal to create their own 'binder' of add-on material. Critters need to be in every issues, preferably in a long format 'Ecology of' style. Over time, your mag could become the definitive monster source if there is a...

What Free Games are out there?

With the news of 4$dventure by WotC, I would like to remind folks about these wonderful free alternatives. No need to rush out to burn your old gear and buy the next set of books. In particular check the site www.starfrontiersman.com There is a lot of great stuff there, and more to come very...

Knight Alternate class feature for dwarves

First I would offer something interesting like some sort of Large Boar Breed to use as an alternative to Warhorse... rationale: minimal changes to the Knight Class. otherwise, Mounted Combat = Tunnel Fighting seems OK Ride by Attack, Spirited Charge = I would use Improved Bull Rush and Overrun...

    Using Different Dog Breeds!

I have always imagined Dwarven Mastiffs, Elven Cooshee and Greyhounds, Halfling lapdogs (shi-tsu, pomeranians, etc), Orcish Bull Terriers and Wolfhounds, and Kobolds with Chihuahuas. Lots of cool imagery that can be used in the game when one describes a dog in more ways than simple stats.

    Half-orc: What to add?

I have often tweaked half-orcs to have certain features such as: bonus feats like toughness, orc weapons, scent (rarely), etc. most examples are listed above by others. Intimidate bonus, and uses STR instead of CHA. Bonus Skill Points for things like Survival, Knowledge Local (local orc tribes...

    Reincarnation Question

I give the player the +LA at the time of the reincarnation... but I adjust the XP required for the next level at that time as well (Racial HD will do this as well). So the character will reap the benefits of his new more powerful body, but will take a bit longer to reach his next class level...

B4:The Lost City and the water problem (possible minor spoiler)

Seconded... the region itself might be dry/desert-like because of some ancient (epic) magic that has affected the area, making creation of water (amongst other things) nearly impossible. You might have some sort of DC30 spellcraft check to overcome or something like that. You can add other...

    SRD rules in TiddlyWiki Format?

The hassle of entering/converting is what I am trying to avoid. Making an SRD is a project all to itself. I will share what I come up with regardless. Hopefully someone out there knows of one.

    SRD rules in TiddlyWiki Format?

That was the first thing I thought when I looked at that site... old/incomplete. A nice start, but unfinished. I also do not like the weird interface on the side menu... weird scrolling necessary to browse. Crafting the SRD in this format is what I was trying to bypass. :uhoh: I was wanting...

    NPC Advancement

I would advance individuals arbitrarily as needed, but generally lagging behind PCs. New 'higher power' NPCs can be introduced when necessary, as the characters move on and upward. I also use a simple mechanic for 'graduating' npc classes into 'real' classes when necessary. When I desire to...

    SRD rules in TiddlyWiki Format?

Has anyone produced a comprehensive SRD done in TiddlyWiki format? or a similar Wiki type format. http://www.tiddlywiki.com/ I want a baseline copy to use for myself, that I can make my own modifications (adding/removing classes, races, feats, etc. changing things willy-nilly). The...

    Sigil

I think the best Sigil book, at least initially, should be from the vantage of a newcomer's arrival and exploration of the city. Somebody from somewhere rather mundane, a basic fantasy world, but not one where mighty events are unfolding. The individual or individuals travels through a...
