Player issue - help with a rogue

Another option is to have the rogue take levels in Beguiler or SpellThief to make him even more resourceful in his non-combatant role. Basically, I am saying that since he is not so great in melee, then focus on strengths elsewhere, rather than 'beating a dead horse' and trying to shoehorn him...

It's back! Nightfall's "Ask the Sage" Scarred Lands Q&A

you could sorta call them splats, but I have found lots of very innovative descriptive text. The Wizard, Sorcerer, Bard 'splat', for instance, contains excellent information on the differences between the types of magic, especially for bards & sorcerers... making them very interesting indeed...

    Creative Help Needed!!!

classic nobility in feudal society also included land holdings, which could be taxed and manpower for armies could be 'enlisted' to contribute to the Liege's armed forces. Add this to Piratecat's prerequisites.

    Leadership and its Followers

I have run a Paladin character with Leadership. To make things realistic, we (me & DM) decided to make 2/3 of the followers NPC class types (warriors, experts, etc.) and the other 1/3 standard classes. We also use a variety of other basic NPC classes (hunters, tribals, hedge-wizard/witch...

    Familiar Replacement

There was a fairly recent (within last 12 months) dragon magazine article that had a Staff oriented replacement for familiars, complete with additional feats to further enhance the rule-mechanic. I thought it worked quite well (as I read the article) although I did not get a chance to put it...

    Name that race

Klaus, why don't you whip up some sort of pic for this if you have a few minutes? He commented on his own lack of artistic talent. ...even something rather rough?

Are there any fans of Star Frontiers on ENWorld?

For that you can simply just use the actual rules. Get copies here: www.starfrontiersman.com Efforts are in the works to create a Star Frontiers 2.0 game, with a decided effort to maintain the flavor and basic elements of the game/setting, yet rethinking the rules from the ground up. No idea...

Are there any fans of Star Frontiers on ENWorld?

Yes, and I would probably spend some $$$ on a true Star Frontiers treatment. The setting really deserves it... not some mishmash of options. Options are great, but give a solid framework for the setting first, then add lots of options.

Conversion: Fantasy Rules into Star Frontiers

Now, once we get a decent basic assortment of Spell-Skills, then I will tackle Advanced Casters of some types where 'higher level' effects can be laid out. For example, a couple of levels in a Protective Circle Spell-Skill, a couple of levels in a Charm/Command Spell-Skill, and a solid mastery...

Conversion: Fantasy Rules into Star Frontiers

I would like to throw down a few guidelines in the hope that a couple of folks might want to contribute to the magic aspects of this kind of mod. 1. Damage should be limited to 1d10 per level, or scale with the overall character's level in the particular spell-skill suite. Roughly 6d10 max...

What 3 WOTC books to buy????

As DM, Fiendish Codex 1 & 2, and I recommend a non-WotC book Tome of Horrors 1. As Player, PHB2, Spell Compendium, and whatever Complete book fits your most used characters. Alternatively instead of Complete X, add Races of X to fit.

    No More 5-Foot Stepping

Odd, 5 foot step never bothered me as much as all the random Attacks of Opportunity. I think minor movements as a part of the character's actions during a round is OK, but just my own personal opinion.

Are there any fans of Star Frontiers on ENWorld?

I was not a fan of the D20 Future stuff. It always seemed like they just threw in a little bit of Star Frontiers nostalgia just to sell that product, but not enough to give anyone a real Star Frontiers game. I might have liked a real Star Frontiers D20 Modern/Future treatment, but to me it...

    An Introduction to Planescape

I have always used the accidental portal method of dropping characters into Sigil. Look over the character's belongings. One of the PCs has a portal key (unknown to PCs). Specific methods I have used are: - at a certain time of night, at a certain Inn room, if you have the key, then the...

Are there any fans of Star Frontiers on ENWorld?

The system is quirky at times, but some parts are really brilliant. I liked the XP system for both its simplicity and universal application. Given out only sparingly, the XP could be used directly for Ability Stat increases, Racial Special Ability increases, Skill Increases, Languages...

Are there any fans of Star Frontiers on ENWorld?

One thing that I really loved about SF, is that all the races (aside from Yazirians) were so distinct from Humans. Bug-like Vrusk, Ameoba-like Dralasites, Worm-like Sathar, not to mention the weird ones found in the modules. I look forward to getting a local group together to play once...
