    Deadlands questions

I have played in a D20 version of Deadlands, and I had a blast. I had no knowledge of the alternate rules systems, so D20 seemed pretty intuitive to me, and for our group which has had no desire to learn new systems to play games, it worked for us. Is it playable, Yes. Did we have fun, Yes...

    Dragonlance Movie... Opinions?

it was nice to revisit the story, but the production was crap otherwise. Animation, Dialog and other sound, Voice acting was poor... just crap. WotC should license to an Anime Company that already produces decent works... (not to imply that it should have Anime styling, but the companies know...

On the origin of species: Warforged

I had done some work importing them into the Forgotten Realms. See Soulforged (thayan warforged) in my signature, and you will see ideas sprinkled in there on some other FR variants.

    Minis/Encounters for Ice-themed campaign

You can take a great number of minis of animals, humanoids, or others and do a little with repaints using liberal white/blue to add elements of ice/cold to them... really inexpensive way to use some of the otherwise useless commons in DDM.

Working on a class to match a character concept

Archivist from Heroes of Horror might do well... a scholarly type but focused on divine/planar/occult/undead types.

    The Grand To-Do List

No plans for 4e, and unless I can easily find games, then D&D will be mothballed. Going old-school for a while, although I will likely use some of my 3e stuff for inspiration, I will be using much simpler rules... Basic Fantasy (http://www.basicfantasy.org/). I also would like to get more play...

Opinion wanted: playing a cleric using the druid's spell list

It may or may not perfectly fit your character concept, but I retrofitted the Archivist class with a nature focus... the Biosoph. The biggest change is swapping the cleric spell list with the druid list, and some flavor/focus changes... instead of occult/undead/outsider the Biosoph deals with...

    Desert of Desolation?

This is where I am as well, although my interests have moved onto old school Star Frontiers lately. Check out www.starfrontiersman.com or www.starfrontiers.us for info on that front. I am waiting for 4e stuff to appear before totally committing to ditching D&D. Even minis are on the back...

    Penalties besides PC death

Although I understand the position that you do not like to kill the characters, nothing seems more unrealistic than losing the fear of death in a game where combat with enemies is one of the pivotal parts of the game. What do you do when the characters decide that at level 5, they embark on a...

    "No Core" game

I had planned to have a "Unorthodox Game" where all classes would come from The Le's series of books on classes. I have not had a chance to actually run such, but I think it would be fun.

    Creepy Victorian Cleric idea needed...

Consider an Archivist as an alternative to cleric (available on WotC website (was a preview, or Heroes of Horror). More skills, knowledge, and group boosting abilities... and of course, the ability to heal. I think the occult/outsider/undead orientation of Archivist, as written, would lend...

Need advice on playing a beguiler

It might help to think of yourself as the 'magical rogue', right down to the 'sneak magical strike'. Although I agree with the advice to not listen to everyone's opinion, I would also not recommend bard. I have seen a bard/beguiler and although it seems like a great combo, the player in...

Which Ranger do you prefer, the original 1E ranger or the UA ranger?

I used the PHB ranger with a few optional things from an old issue of Dragon Magazine, namely some stuff associated with the type of terrain the ranger hails from... but I have not looked at this stuff in oh so long!
