Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

I don't think it'll be at Mon's bidding, but it wouldn't surprise me if Cassian is faced with a similar choice to the one he faces at the start of Rogue One - allow Luthen to fall into Imperial hands, or kill him himself. And it wouldn't surprise me if Luthen approves of his decision.

AI is going to hack us.

Yeah, you've gotta wonder how much cult propaganda was out there publicly-accessible and got picked up as part of these AIs' training data. If someone asks an LLM AI a question that would be typically asked of a cult leader, does the AI then just generate a suitably cult-leaderish response...

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

Yeah, his rejection of the Doctor's reality went rather well for him, at least for "creepy Mrs Flood cameo" values of 'well'.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is a possible connection to classic Who in this episode. Conrad's croneys wear a <Think Tank> logo, that presumably being the name they're operating under, and in the Fourth Doctor debut episode "Robot", the organisation that was developing the K1 robot was...

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

Right, because confessions extracted under threat of death are always sincere. And an organisation accused of faking alien monsters showing a 'real' one on a streamed video couldn't possibly be fake footage itself.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

What, UNIT can't block a phone signal from within their own headquarters? And assuming they wanted to send a message rather than just stop his, this is the message they chose to send? "Yes, monsters are real, and we'll keep you safe from them - so long as you don't disagree with us. If you try...

watching time pass via tv show

There was a time in the 90s where writers seemed actively resistant to trying to adapt to an era of easy mobile phone access, especially in drama and investigative shows. It took shows like 24 that embraced them and showcased their potential as dramatic devices before screenwriters as a whole...

It hasn't been known for laying it on as thickly as it did this episode.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

What the hell was that episode? I remember when Doctor Who was acquainted with subtlety, and didn't have to ram its message home with an on-the-nose speech in case people missed the blindingly obvious. And man, talk about mixed messages. After their 'solution' I definitely do not stand with...

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

It's synthetic if it's something that has been created when prompted, as opposed to just a straight copy of a single existing work. Any new item created by such a system is synthetic by definition. They're just using the word to differentiate between generating and copying. The important part...

The Oblivion Remaster Is Releasing Today. This Is Not A Drill.

"Supposed", hard to say, but it's a known issue. They replaced the sliding-scale difficulty with a set of dificulty levels, and it turns out to ramp up really sharply once you go past the default "Adept".

The Oblivion Remaster Is Releasing Today. This Is Not A Drill.

I think the issue is trying to use the same system across all types of spells. A lot of the other schools won't have the same ramp-up in power / number of castings as Destruction does, so they do take awhile to level.

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

So, when the confrontation inevitably comes, will the stormtroopers be ordered to take down anyone who even looks like a loyal Ghorman? Leading to the command "Fire at twill!"

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

Worth mentioning, the "French Partisan" thing they did on Ghorman has been somewhat done before in the Ryloth stories in Rebels. Hera's natural accent is much more French-sounding than her accustomed one, and it comes out when dealing with her family, especially her father who takes a much more...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

It wasn't an issue for me, but that may actually have been because of the headphones. Volume aside, they do deliver much clearer sound than my regular speakers, so it may have helped make his dialogue more intelligible.

The Oblivion Remaster Is Releasing Today. This Is Not A Drill.

It is now proportional to how powerful the spell you're casting is, rather than just being a straight progression-per-casting regardless of the spell's cost as it was in the original. But that doesn't really help when it's applied to attack spells, since if you're up against more powerful...
