D&D General Can a Wish spell move a moon to cause an eclipse?

In a fantasy world you're not even limited to scientifically realistic options. In some mythologies, an eclipse is caused by a dragon eating the sun.

D&D General Can a Wish spell move a moon to cause an eclipse?

Plenty of things can happen other than moving the moon to fulfil this wish: The wish moves the planet to put the moon directly between it and the sun, seriously altering the moon's orbit and changing the lunar cycle, while also messing up the tides. The wish moves the sun to a point directly...

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

And run the risk that either A) Tastes have changed, and nobody's interested in buying that style anymore (though if you can hang in there it'll probably come around again eventually), or B) That style actually is still very popular, which is why, in the intervening centuries, someone invented...

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

Bury some trinkets in out-of-the-way places, then dig them up a thousand years later and sell them as antiques.

    General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

I'd watch it just to see Han shoot first.

Yeah, that's the other way Drax's plan is smarter - he leaves behind a viable ecosystem rather than a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

If they're structured as 4 movies, sure. They weren't in season 1.

D&D 5E (2014) Mage Hand and Trap Avoidance

I don't understand. How does its speed affect being able to drop a rock on a pressure plate? It's not exactly a moving target.

D&D 5E (2014) Mage Hand and Trap Avoidance

Nah, I'd go with hauling a 10 lb weight up to the ceiling and then dropping it.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Is Almost Upon Us! Discuss What You Want

Maybe they're hoping the uncertainty will keep people from cancelling their subscriptions until the new content arrives.

Also, they're almost always some form of damaging effect. To me, by far the most effective trap to put on something in a populated area would be an alarm.

Crushing d6s is one thing. If the guy wants to really show that he's a badass, he should try crushing some d4s.

    Rewatching Bond films

As I recall, that was all Moore's decision. The script called for Bond to be into her, but he pushed back as the age difference made him very uncomfortable.

    General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

Would've worked better if it hadn't been preceded a few minutes earlier by another person saving the ones they loved by doing basically exactly what Finn's trying to do here, and followed a few minutes later by someone else buying time for them at the cost of his own life. How were Finn's...

    Rewatching Bond films

Gunpowder works just fine in space. It's not like cartridges have air holes in them, after all. The main issue with guns in space is more frequent maintenance - lubricant tends to boil off in a vacuum. But yes, recoil.

And I was at no point advocating their use.

D&D 5E (2014) Mage Hand and Trap Avoidance

Exactly. The investigation part is fun. A trap that's just out there in the open with its triggering mechanism and effect on full display doesn't require any investigation - and doesn't really qualify as being a trap.

D&D 5E (2014) Mage Hand and Trap Avoidance

And I think the distinction is why your example trap fell flat for you. You presented a trap that was already 80-90% solved, because the "know that the trap exists" and "identify the trap's mechanism" parts of the problem were pre-solved by the goblin who triggered it, and then you were...

D&D 5E (2014) Mage Hand and Trap Avoidance

If by "obvious" you mean that they'd have been easily spotted even without the corpses as a clue, then no, it's not a trap, it's a deterrent. The whole room is saying "you're not allowed to be here, and if you try to be here you'll die." If either the trigger or the mechanism would not have been...
