Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

Crispy's Tavern has a take on it that's pretty reasonable.

It does rock pretty hard. One of my favorite web comics.

How does a Player contribute to the overall tabletop RPG experience?

Be reasonably attentive even when the spotlight is on someone else. Be a fan of the GM and the other players and their characters and help them to play at their best. Don't be disruptive (within reason, a joking aside every once in a while helps the fun, but don't over do it). Share the...

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

It's not like anyone actually claimed that in any significant capacity. What was always in context was that D&D had surpassed 4e sales in speciality game stores based on icv2's surveys - a core marketplace for games and gamer culture, but not the entirety of the marketplace.

And it has the biggest player base already in place, which means new players can easily find resources both online and in person to help guide and teach them as they take up the game.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Is it actually surprising? D&D's got 50 years of history and that means 50 years of meeting, setting, or otherwise conditioning people's preferences for what D&D should be. D&D's history is always going to affect what people expect and want out of it. It doesn't and can't really have a clean slate.

I'd be pretty sure Geek and Sundry were paying them. If not, G&S would have been horribly exploiting them.

    Best Horror Role Playing Game

Yes, I believe we encountered and killed more than one avatar of Nyarlathotep in the Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign. None of his avatars are all that hard to kill (particularly if the big game hunter manages to impale with his elephant gun), but it doesn’t matter. The destruction of one of his...

    Unpopular Geek Media Opinions

It’s never going to stick just to the show/game without the author. Because nothing says “Eff you” to the people the people she’s actively hurting than discussing any of her new license products as if the big transphobic elephant in the room isn’t there.

    Unpopular Geek Media Opinions

What's the retcon? Harry makes his choice in the first book and Dumbledore validates it. He opines about sorting too early to Snape in book 6, if I remember correctly. Harry tells his son he can choose his house in book 7. Harry's morality and the morality of people close to him is all about...

    Unpopular Geek Media Opinions

Um... this actually IS dealt with. Harry chooses his house (by opting against Slytherin). Dumbledore underscores the importance of that choice and, later on, reflects to Snape that people are sorted too soon before their true nature is demonstrated. Harry eventually tells his awkwardly named son...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I think 5e.2024 has gone a bit farther down the road of nerfing monster defenses than I would like. I'd like to see lycanthropes toughened up again. Just having a lot of hit points doesn't exactly make them scary - not like them regenerating or strongly resisting non-silver damage does anyway...

Tips and Tricks to Running a Con Game

The AL coordinators at Gamehole Con have been encouraging their DMs to put out the safety tools, so I have been even though they've never been used at my tables. AL may seem pretty mild but you do get a wide variety of ages and general players, so you never know what's going to hit someone the...

Big businesses may also have a lot of bureaucratic/managerial structures that makes catering to smaller, niche or fringe markets or other specialty or experimental projects too expensive to pursue for acceptable return whereas smaller businesses with less overhead have opportunities to excel.

Geek Confessional Thread 2024 [NOW 2025!]

Wow. Being turn-based is one of the definite engine improvements over Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. Considering 5e's casting times are a lot more compressed than AD&D's, maybe the issue would have been much reduced - but trying to target enemies with an area-effect spell with BG1 and 2 sucked and was a...

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

My guess is that IF they ever switch to Daggerheart full time, they'll still be under the Critical Role banner. They'll just say "nerdy-ass voice actors playing Daggerheart".

Level Up (A5E) Sight & Targeting a Spell

I've seen senses designated as "targeting" or "accurate" in superhero games (Champions and Mutants and Masterminds, respectively) to indicate that they're suitable for use in targeting an opponent with attacks. Normally, that applies to sight by default, but it can be bought with any sense in...

Tips and Tricks to Running a Con Game

It would be... if someone were to actually do it. But I suspect it's not really a thing - particularly with playing the X-card. If someone approaches the table saying "Change this game!", presumably they're basing it on the description blurb in the event listing. And if you want a game changed...
