How important are fantasy races to you?

Agreed. ANYTHING else would've been great. The Shadow Chasers setting would've also been better, but really, *anything* else would've been better. Brad

How important are fantasy races to you?

The funny thing is that with the "man meets magic and machine" thing, they've gone way past the cyberpunk fad of the late '80s early '90s. I can't think of any other cyberpunk games that are still in active production. Without the elves and magic, there was nothing really to separate Shadowrun...

Tired of hearing people hate on longer battle times in strategic RPG's

You know, this almost sounds like Whoever Hits First Usually Wins. Is that correct? Maybe better-put as Whoever Is Hit Last Wins? (Kind of reminds me of SR2, with its Speed Is Life mantra. Hell, my first GM applied the wound penalties to resisting damage, which was remarkably mean.) Brad

    Hasbro/WotC's movie problems

Oh, I'm not saying it was a cinematic masterpiece. I'm saying I enjoyed it quite a bit. I could point out a lot of other WTF moments, too, but it's not like the movie takes itself seriously, so I sure didn't. Really, the pure nerdrage about it is about half the fun. Brad

    Hasbro/WotC's movie problems

You know, I kinda liked the G.I. Joe movie. It could've been better, but I enjoyed it. It was nice and goofy fun, and they had a Pit (in a stupid place, but still), which meant they were taking stuff from the comics rather than the TV series. Admittedly, the wrath of my friend who thought I'd...

    HoS premier relase?

Man, it'd been so long since there was a player-based thing come out I forgot about the premier thing. Brad

Pathfinder 1E My New Pathfinder Policy

I suggest...no, I DEMAND this be named MAD Skills! Okay, I'm actually mostly joking. :) Brad

Pathfinder 1E Can you Pathfinderize Wheel of Time d20?

I get the impression that most of the non-casters are represented either as fighters or rogues, with the occasional barbarian and monk thrown in for taste, with custom prestige classes and feat chains to aid in differentiation. For channelers, I agree with Kaisoku, that really cries out for...

    Typical Healing Surge Usage

I'm a bit leery of doing this. Lower surges often go hand-in hand with lower defenses, so that seems to be a good way of getting more total damage done on the party. This probably does work reasonably well at lower levels while the defenses aren't terribly different. Once you start getting...

    Typical Healing Surge Usage

Shoot, my 4th-level eladrin psion in Dark Sun has 8 surges; 6 base, + 1 for Con of 12, and +1 from Autohypnosis. Honestly, while Con isn't the uber-stat it was back in 3e, it's still a very good stat, especially if you don't need Str, since it extends your durability significantly. In our Dark...

    D&D 5E (2014) So 5th edition is coming soon

Unless, of course, you needed in-combat healing. The CLW wand isn't going to help in-combat past about 5th level or so. It also imposes its own version of the short rest as you use up charges, each d8+1 taking a round. You could get potions of up to Cure Serious Wounds, IIRC, but that's...

    Monk Hand free ?

Yup. Melee basic attacks are always Str v AC unless modified by a feat, such as Melee Weapon Training. Some at-will powers are labeled as being usable as basic attacks, but the monk, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't have any of those. Brad

    Monk Hand free ?

The class feature "Unarmed Combatant" requires that the monk have a hand free to make use of their Unarmed Strike. That's the only thing that requires the free hand, IIRC. So, that means that the aforementioned dagger/sling monk wouldn't be able to make use of the Unarmed Strike, so basic...

Shameless Movie Scene Rip-Offs You Got Away With

Oh, back in our Birthright game, one adventure featured flying infernal spectres trying to find fiendish cattle. We're playing this out, seeing the flying infernal spectres, find out they're lawful, and I sounded it out; "Wait, they're after the Devil's Herd? And they're...

Shameless Movie Scene Rip-Offs You Got Away With

At some point in my upcoming Shadowrun campaign, my group of jack-booted thugs is likely to kick in the door on some cultists, to find an enormously fat woman manning a machine gun and shooting at them. I expect exactly one player to possibly get that reference (which is from the Special...

Rule of Three finally addresses an important epic tier question!

I'm reminded of the Holy Avenger being rare. The "rare" version not being appreciably different from the regular version, which was apparently already balanced at its level. That...irritated me. At least jack up the crit dice or something... Brad

City of Heroes/Villians, Champions Online or DC Universe Online?

I tried CO for a bit, but the character creater was surprisingly inflexible (seriously, how can you not have a dinosaur or dragon head if you have a bug head?), and it labored my system something awful. I've kept up my DCUO sub, because it's (a) significantly different from WoW (which I also...

If you could play in a campaign of your choice, what would it be?

Something ridiculously over-the-top. The epic 3.0 game with my half-dragon anthropomorphic tyrannosaur monk was a start, but went like 2-3 sessions before the DM just gave up. Others...I'd like to play in a Deathwatch game, and an Exalted game would be good, too. Brad

How important are fantasy races to you?

That's the first I've ever heard that. It's pretty much half the appeal; mages and orcs with shotguns! And besides, you don't powergame the orc for the Strength, you do it for the Body and no penalty to Willpower. They're actually very cost-efficient. :) Brad
