Iron Man 2 - after credits spoiler [spoilers]

I think I remember seeing "vita-radiation hazard" warnings around the serum, too. That geeked me out, hard. Brad

    Someone has MM3 at RPG.Net

That was a welcome surprise. I thought unflavored elementals were gone the way of the dodo. Woot! Lots of epic-level stuff in there, too, more than I recall from the other two MMs. Brad

    Is Painful Oath Too Painful?

Based on my experience, they do. The (suboptimally-built) ranger outdamages my pursuit avenger. The avenger hits about 50% more often or so, but the hits do significantly less damage per hit, more than enough that their damage output winds up being relatively low. Yes, they have extra-damage...

    Surrender or Die!

That depends on if the surrender will be honored or not. They may well be angling for an easier time slaughtering the party. If that appears to be the case, no reason to let them have an easy time. Brad

Oots 0727 - And It Will Never Work Again

Oh, totally. Particularly Lawful Evil, it would look like, what with all the papers and passes and whatnot. Interesting how a lot of his BBEGs are charismatic and funny. Of course, were they not funny, they'd be boring. Brad

How soon do you see warning signs of a TPK?

This is one of the better takeaways I've seen. If you see something bad coming, start planning to get out, NOW. Of course, to retreat you need to move faster than the things that you're fighting. Which, in 3e, with the 20'/round movement rate available to dwarves and fighters, was really hard...

    Is the Monk overpowered?

The weapon damage doesn't matter as much as one might think, especially when you can add in sneak attack damage almost every hit. Hell, I came within an inch of taking Power Attack, as I was often hitting on a 3 or better with my rogue with Piercing Strike. Brad

    D&D 4E Player's Strategy Guide - 4E Book

Ah. This makes much more sense, then. Thanks! Brad

    Who's Hype for Dark Sun???

Indeed. I'm not exactly hyped for it, either. I know people that are, but I never got into Dark Sun. I'm sure that I'll wind up playing it (one of our DMs has already said that's his next game), though, and I'll likely get the book, but I'm not exactly hyped for it. Brad

    D&D 4E Player's Strategy Guide - 4E Book

Stupid question. Don't they already let you use the implements? I see the cleric multiclass feats specifically say "you can wield cleric implements." Brad

What rule does your group ignore?

Our DM has this cute thing about how we're supposed to start at 1. We haven't started at 1 since, oh, about six years ago. Brad

    Is the Monk overpowered?

Oooo, nifty. Much better than those d8-imitators. But back to the subject: Yeah, I'd love to play a monk, but there are just so many freaking auras out there that it makes me think WTF? Brad

    Is the Monk overpowered?

The rogue really should be working to get sneak attack in as much as humanly possible. And Backstabber is one of the highest-output damage feats. It's +2 damage/hit on average at heroic, as long as you have combat advantage. If the rogue's not getting combat advantage, then his damage is...

What Condition Colors do You Use?

We use poker chips, small ones that just fit under the mini bases. Two of the players (I'm one of them) generally have a set that they use to put under the minis and put them back into place, as the DM's arms aren't long enough to reach all the way across the damn table and do that. Blue =...

Iron Man 2 - after credits spoiler [spoilers]

It showed up in an issue of Fantastic Four before Civil War, in, unsurprisingly, Oklahoma. The Army had built a dome over it, and Dr. Doom came back from Hell to try and get it. Brad

    Pimp my sorcerer!

Addressing in the last quote, below. Staves still count as two implements when wielded two-handed; at least, they haven't fixed it on the Character Builder, which leads me to believe it's OK. Which vaguely surprises me. Obviously, I'm not double-counting the item bonus from Staff of Ruin...

    Pimp my sorcerer!

I'll keep that in mind. The wording seems to indicate it only goes against the same target, but I may be reading that too conservatively. It is certainly attractive, though. I'm not *that* concerned about defenses as much, at least, not for hide armor proficiency. :) The original build...

    Battle Engineer for Avengers?

Bear in mind that you're not actually going to be critting so often as to make brutal worthless. Yes, you have two chances, but it's still not like every third attack. I personally prefer the Executioner's Axe, and don't really worry much about the implement (we've had enough drop anyway). Brad

    Pimp my sorcerer!

In the Eberron game I'm in, the DM has indicated that when we hit epic level, we'll have a chance to do a switchout. After one too many monsters with auras, I'm thinking of switching my avenger to something ranged, and I've really wanted to try a sorcerer. I went human for the extra at-will...

OotS #725 The Significantly-More-Secret Origin of Tarquin and Nale

I can't wait for the inevitable "well, yes, I'm a fun guy, but I'm evil as hell" moment. And one wonders if Hailey's dad is there. Brad
