Favorite actual/wished for fantasy character that wouldn't work well with D&D rules

As an aside, I note that none of the main characters in Star Wars have any real difficulty understanding Chewie, so I'm wondering why the "you can't understand the Wookie at all" thing came in. Obviously, Han spoke Wookie, as he'd have conversations, but IIRC the rest of the main characters...

    Character Buillder updates?

Hrm, mine lets me pick two weapons or one of each type. I'd suggest putting in Heavy Blade and Light Blade.

    Character Buillder updates?

This coming Tuesday: Character Builder update, new Dresden book, AND WoW raids reset. I feel incredibly nerdy right now. Brad

    Where is the bugbear rage?

Oh, yeah. It brings tears to my eyes. It would also put my minotaur at 9' tall, and the DM has a tendency to target the biggest thing in the party if there's no other pressing concern. Plus, the lack of an "Oops I went down" ability hurts greatly. Honestly, I'd rename it Eternal Warrior or...

    Where is the bugbear rage?

As an epic destiny, not really a big deal. Epic things are supposed to be cool. Besides, it's another +1 damage per [W]. That's, what, an extra 2-4 points on a hit at that level? Up to 9 on a barbarian rage strike daily? And the monsters have how much health? At epic levels, I don't really...

    Newbie avenger questions

There's Ardent Champion from DP, which lets you crit when both your Oath dice are the same result...and this was recently errataed to specify that it's a hit, too. Beyond that...don't worry about it too much. I rarely crit, even on 2 dice with a 19-20 threat range, and Jagged kind of blows. Brad

    Where is the bugbear rage?

From what I understand, oversized weapons aren't really meant for PC races. If there were ever a writeup in Dragon for bugbears, they'd likely have that ability excised, rather like the minotaurs did. Brad

OotS #710 Does He Get XP for Their Buzz?

Wow, they're coming at a fair clip. Kind of surprising. Brad

I hope for another multiclass feat for monks

At some point, there was a thread on how much adamantite you could get skinning a warforged, and it was apparently later clarified that there was very little, if any, actually involved in warforged construction, even with the appropriate feat. Which is kind of disturbing, when you think about...

Really silly question about encounter powers

One benefit to the psionic classes (ardent, battlemind, psion) is they can pound out the same "encounter" power twice or more in an encounter, depending on their power points. Brad

    Goliath Greatweapon Prowess

I love, LOVE Brutal. Then again, I'm playing a striker class that has its extra damage mechanic kick in at the DM's whim, and getting a 1 or a 2 on my d12 stinks. And getting to reroll that and say "Brutal!" is just fun on a bun. Though after 4 1s, I have to switch my dice. Brad

I hope for another multiclass feat for monks

The one thing I'd note is that the multiclass feats typically give a once/encounter ability and a skill proficiency*. So getting the superior Unarmed Strike is probably a bit much. * - Which is why if you want just a skill, see what multiclass feats you can pick up, they may wind up being...

    PCs hoarding Daily Powers

It also depends on the dailies taken. Some are relatively situational. For example, my avenger has Aspect of Might, Oath of Righteous Fury, and Temple of Brilliance. Aspect of Might and Oath of Righteous Fury are both best used early in a big fight, but depending on how the fight goes, by the...

D&D 4E Healing from Negatives - is it really that good in 4e ?

In general, I've found it best to heal people once they hit Bloodied, even if the dragonborn objects that he gets extra damage while bloodied. Downed strikers/defenders don't do their jobs, after all. Brad

    D&D 4E I admit it. I don't "get" 4e psionics.

Look in the back in the definition of Augmentation. Basically, the human or half-elf bonus at-wills lose augmentation abilities and keywords. On the one hand, this seems to suck, because an augmentable bonus at-will would make psion/ardent/battlemind less boring, as you'd increase your # of...

    Does the shardmind seem overpowered?

Also, and this is vitally important, you get to mooooooo as you move around the board! I find that more than offsets any other racial abilities. Hell, I enjoyed mine before I got an extra healing surge and an extra language. Brad

What PHB3 Classes stand out to you?

I really, really like how they did the monk. That may actually make me go back on my vow to never play a non-ranged class again. It is somewhat similar to an avenger, but they do have significant flavor and playstyle differences. (I am *cheerfully* changing my avenger's multiclass to monk...

World of Warcraft/Everquest D20 books worth picking up??

A friend has one of the WoW monster books, and he liked it. I don't think we used anything from it, though. Brad
