D&D 4E Finally, a playtest reporting there are good things from 4e in Next!!

Yeah, that comment bothered me too. Especially because a character of mine - an armored 1st level warlord with more Hp than a wizard - got ganked last week by getting surrounded by controllers who killed him in two rounds with melee basic attacks. So I totally call BS. But I am glad that the...

    The Paladin and the Stirges

4e was announced Gencon (August 2007), and released June 2008. Bit more than 6 months.

    Adventures You'd Like Produced

Sure, but I've seen them do up to 3 projects at one time (PF, 4e and one other I forget). So I'm assuming that Open Design is willing to do more than one. I will however add that low-level planar excursions have been done twice by Open Design; Wrath of the River King and somethingsomething...

GMs - What type of PCs would you like to see in your game?

I love the motivated player, the ambitious one that sets goals and says "This is what I want", pursues it, and I set up the dominos for them to knock down. I should specify that goal is typically not "I want to be super broken" or "this specific artifact" but like, "I want to topple that...

    Adventures You'd Like Produced

If you're announcing a 4e project that you'd lead, why would folks need to vote vs. a PF one? It's not like Baur would be running it.

    Adventures You'd Like Produced

Oh I forgot: Sidetreks. Very short adventures/concise encounters. Nothing as dull as a delve though.

    Adventures You'd Like Produced

    1) Adventures designed for a party of 1-3. The balance and encounter considerations are taken into account from the beginning. The trick here is the play really depends on 1) what roles you have and 2) what classes. A ranged striker vs. an avenger might change things, as would something with a...

Need help ASAP - Formatting a Character Sheet

Sadly I started feeling like crap around midnight last night and still feel awful, so I couldn't run the game for the kids. But I at least sent a pizza over there as an apology. However, all characters are made, thanks to @Quickleaf - thanks. :) BTW Rune I appreciate the offer. It looks...

Need help ASAP - Formatting a Character Sheet

It angers me that I can't give you XP for this, Quickleaf; it's perfect. Thanks a bunch! Saved me a lot of frustration.

Need help ASAP - Formatting a Character Sheet

Thievery is still gone. I donno what's up with that. It seems like the Equipment box is overlapping it, but when I move that there's nothing there. I'm going to download open office myself - any time I try to adjust anything, Word pitches a fit. ALso perhaps it'd be easier if we traded emails. :)

Need help ASAP - Formatting a Character Sheet

@Quickleaf I notice one problem. The skill area: Thievery has been cut off. I tried to shuffle it around but it seems lost. What you might do is get rid of the "Class Features" box. This is for pregens, and so I've factored in all the math or tucked it all inside various powers (since these...

Need help ASAP - Formatting a Character Sheet

Quickleaf that would be greatly appreciated, so much. Aaand it doesn't surprise me that it's jumbled. Augh. Page 1: Character/Player Name, Race, Class Ability Scores Hit Points Defenses Init/Speed/Vision/etc Skills Equipment Feats & Racial Traits Character Description/Personality Page 2 -...

Need help ASAP - Formatting a Character Sheet

I need some help. I'm trying to make pregens for a game tomorrow, and unsatisfied with a lot of the character sheets out there, I wanted to make my own Bare Bones sheet (also one that wouldn't guzzle my printer ink). Problem is that I suck at formatting a Word document. The issue is arranging...

    D&D 5E (2014) Another Critical Hits 5E Report

I've said it before every time this point comes up. If I don't like how the base rules work, then it doesn't matter what kind of goodies I layer on top of a rotten foundation. If the fundamental mechanics are bleh to me, I'm not buying. So far I really, really dislike the Ability Scores as...

    D&D 5E (2014) Another Critical Hits 5E Report

In 4e, an ogre would be a level 8 threat. Against a single 1st level PC, he'd stomp a hole in them.

Kitchen Sink or Limits, Which for You?

This. If all the characters are members of a thieves guild, then a plate-wearing paladin isn't going to work. If the campaign is "Everyone's a kobold", then well, everyone's a kobold. If the campaign is "Explorers to the Jungle Continent", I want everyone to start from the Old World (where...

What is a Kord related hook?

Divert a river with your bare hands (it worked for Hercules). Wrestle/Kill x with your bare hands (It worked for Beowulf/Hercules) Survive a force of nature (tornado, hurricane, tsunami) while naked, both physically and without magical assistance. Physically (or through force of wiill/your...

    D&D 5E (2014) Another Critical Hits 5E Report

Yes, I understand that. It's just not what I want when I sit down to play. :) I like it when things happen. With heavy exploration, it takes a lot of work/time on the player's part for something to happen, and success is when bad things don't happen - no, I want bad things to happen! IME "smart...

    D&D 5E (2014) Another Critical Hits 5E Report

Meh re: going back to town for ten foot poles et al. I was in a 4e game this weekend where those would have been useful, and that sort of "let's be cautious and tred carefully" irritated the hell out of me. Because it slowed play down. I wanted to get to the action, get to the story, get to the...
