D&D 5E (2014) What Are Your Favorite Short Adventures and Collections for 5e?

I enjoy running the one-shot adventures from the Jeff Ashworth books. The Crimson Oubliette from Kobold Press is my backpocket game...always ready to run it in a pinch. I get good use out of the Candlekeep Mysteries.

    D&D 5E (2014) Player Hit Points

I like to randomize my characters because I like the character to be little bit out of my control. It makes the character feel more real somehow. Like it has a life of its own.

    D&D 5E (2014) Player Hit Points

That's exactly what Shadowdark does. You roll for class features.

    D&D 5E (2014) Player Hit Points

I let the Player choose between rolling or taking the average. However, I also give them two extra hit points if they choose to roll.

D&D General From now on in my games, Black Dragons and Dragon Turtles are the same species.

I like 'expendable stick'. I picked up a good sized one once to help it across the road. I am still amazed by how far they can reach over the top of the shell in a fury of hiss-filled snapping. Yikes!

D&D General From now on in my games, Black Dragons and Dragon Turtles are the same species.

A quote from Moonrise Kingdom that always made me giggle, "They'll bite you if you put your finger in their mouth." Yep, indeed they probably will. Then again, I'd probably bite you if you stuck your finger in my mouth.

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting Old Adventures

I brought this up at a Pathfinder Society game I was running and shocked all the players. They melted my heart with all their puppy-dog eyes so I let them off with a warning. We play despite the rules.

D&D 5E (2014) Scroll of Protection and Ranged Weapons

It's an item. I was looking for it under spells because I'm still stuck in 3rd edition.

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting Old Adventures

Fun Fact: Pathfinder 1e had this rule as well, so it's likely that Dungeons and Dragons 3e had it too.

D&D 5E (2014) Scroll of Protection and Ranged Weapons

I don't have access to the spell (it's not on my list), but I would say an arrow is definitely affecting the target.

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting Old Adventures

I incorporate those +1 swords etc. directly into their stat block, then give them a mundane sword instead. I'll even give them minor magical abilities if I feel the magic item is just there to "balance" them against the party. They've got boots of flying, well now they've got normal boots and an...

D&D General What are good secret code decorations or tchotchkes to signal you are a gamer to other gamers in non-gamer environments

I think this is the most subtle. You could even drop one of the d10s. Then someone will come in and comment that one of those shapes is not a Platonic solid and you can just blame it on Amazon.

D&D 5E (2014) Does an Intellect Devourer "Possess" Its Victim?

Yeah you're right AND your body is still alive. I don't think it's possession, it's replacement.

D&D 5E (2014) Does an Intellect Devourer "Possess" Its Victim?

Not dead. Your body is still alive, it just basically had a brain transplant.

D&D 5E (2014) Shenanigans - The Deck of Many Things

We drew from the Harrow Deck of Many Things and our wizard ended up with his own pocket dimension and a large, black, unremovable gem sticking out the side of his head that makes him vulnerable to sonic energy.
