I like to pull a lot from the Adventures League adventures.

I enjoy running the one-shot adventures from the Jeff Ashworth books. The Crimson Oubliette from Kobold Press is my backpocket game...always ready to run it in a pinch. I get good use out of the Candlekeep Mysteries.

I like to randomize my characters because I like the character to be little bit out of my control. It makes the character feel more real somehow. Like it has a life of its own.

That's exactly what Shadowdark does. You roll for class features.

I let the Player choose between rolling or taking the average. However, I also give them two extra hit points if they choose to roll.

I like 'expendable stick'. I picked up a good sized one once to help it across the road. I am still amazed by how far they can reach over the top of the shell in a fury of hiss-filled snapping. Yikes!

I brought this up at a Pathfinder Society game I was running and shocked all the players. They melted my heart with all their puppy-dog eyes so I let them off with a warning. We play despite the rules.

Who prepares make whole? Did Advanced Dungeons and Dragons have make whole as well?

It's an item. I was looking for it under spells because I'm still stuck in 3rd edition.

Fun Fact: Pathfinder 1e had this rule as well, so it's likely that Dungeons and Dragons 3e had it too.

I don't have access to the spell (it's not on my list), but I would say an arrow is definitely affecting the target.

I incorporate those +1 swords etc. directly into their stat block, then give them a mundane sword instead. I think this is the most subtle. You could even drop one of the d10s. Then someone will come in and comment that one of those shapes is not a Platonic solid and you can just blame it on Amazon.
