D&D 5E (2014) Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - March 26th

Really? My bad...memory that is. I played it when I was 12 years old. I guess that answers the Tootsie Pop question.

D&D 5E (2014) Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - March 26th

I say it with a Silent J and a Bob of the head.

D&D 5E (2014) Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - March 26th

Also, how do you pronounce Tsojcanth?

Or the dungeon could be mostly cleared due to earlier legendary heroes' explorations.

D&D 5E (2014) Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - March 26th

"the former lair of the legendary archmage Iggwilv the Witch Queen" It seems like this means it's not a reboot but an update since Iggwilv has changed quite a bit. More like Decent into the Found Caverns of Tsojcanth. I wonder what we'll find at the center of the Tootsie Pop?

D&D General elf definition semantic shenanigans

For a long time I was upset that Dungeons and Dragons, at that time, was shaping our view of what an elf was. Today it's pretty much set in stone. A few years back I described a forest full of salamanders to my players and they started prepping for fire resistance. I was confused. It wasn't...

D&D General elf definition semantic shenanigans

Gosh, I ran a campaign for years where elves, dwarves, gnomes, and pixies were all the same thing. If I had known better I probably would have thrown goblins, kobolds, and piskies in there too.

D&D General Explain Bounded Accuracy to Me (As if I Was Five)

I was running the Curse of the Crimson Throne and we were in the 5th book of the 6 book adventure path: Skeletons of Scarwall. The players' characters were 12th-13th level and one encounter involved...skeletons?! I could only imagine that my players would giggle and laugh and then maybe have...

    D&D 5E (2014) What should I steal from these 5e adventure books? (+)

Dungeon of the Mad Mage is basically 23 separate modules that can be run independent of each other. I ran level 13, Trobriand's Graveyard, as a Fury Road style post-apocalyptic adventure complete with motorcycles, semi-trucks, and tanks. It was a lot of fun. I also used level 5, Wyllowood...

D&D 5E (2014) Would you require a roll for this?

Sorry if this is out of place but I like to skip the discussion before I answer one of these kinds of questions so as not to be influenced by my peers. I would call for a roll with disadvantage to pick the lock due to the bulky nature of the gauntlets. However, if there is no pressure to get...

D&D 5E (2014) What, if anything, bothers you about certain casters/spells at your table?

Suggestion is a spell that bothers me. We, as Players, often want as much power as possible, so we often expect Suggestion to be on par with Dominate Person. I think Suggestion should be renamed Jedi Mind Trick.

D&D General "I'd like to run (or play in) an all ___________ campaign." (+)

I would like to do an all halfling adventure. I would also like to do an adventure wherein all the characters are members of a noble family. I did an all Hellknight adventure, but it was just a short two-session side quest.

D&D General "I'd like to run (or play in) an all ___________ campaign." (+)

I ran a campaign for five years wherein I only allowed humans. Campaigns don't last five years if you're not having fun. We had a barbarian for awhile and even a sorcerer, but the two most consistent players were thieves. In the end the campaign developed into a thieves guild/pirating adventure...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

I'm done chasing the dragon, so to speak. I'm sticking with the Common Core 5th edition like an old grognard still playing AD&D. To do this I'm weaning my gaming group off of adventure paths, and back into campaign style gaming.

D&D 5E (2014) DM imposed restrictions to the game (+)

I chose "Nothing. Anything and everything goes." I have a couple of players in my group for whom restrictions would be a deal breaker. I feel it would be a short lived game if I imposed restrictions. This is not by choice. I would like to impose restrictions in order to support a certain style...

D&D General Tips for Using Paper Character Sheets

Paper character sheets are to electronic character sheets, as a standard transmission is to an automatic transmission. If you drive "stick", you'll know what I mean.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Evil? Again, what are the Players' expectations? I think a lot of Players expect the practitioners of necromancy to be evil. However, if we as Players expect necromancy to be a practical use of the available technology, then necromancers are just smart and resourceful. in the end I don't think...
