Anyone else not too fond of the new stat block setup?

I can see the point of the new format, but right now, it takes up too much space on a page. As an aside, whatever happened to the new encounter format Dungeon was trying in the middle of the Shackled City adventure path? The auras and Listen/Spot DCs were useful.

Is it unbalancing to let arcane spellcasters cast in armor?

And even in GURPS, you can cast spells in armor, though the extra encumberance makes you go through FP quicker.

Where have all the cantrips gone?

    There's a need of a new 0-level enchantment spell. Daze doesn't scale.

New "What sort of RPG player are you?" poll (this one by Charles Ryan)

Storyteller 95% Tactician 65% Character Player 65% Casual Gamer 40% Weekend Warrior 30% Power Gamer 25% Specialist 20% Which is odd for me. I usually have Character Player (or whatever the quiz calls it) come up first, and Tactician be at or near the bottom. I've been in a storytelling mood for...

    D&D 4E Default setting for 4E?

Greyhawk is the least bad option. I would prefer Krynn, but that isn't in the cards. Eberron has a different feel from normal D&D. The Forgotten Realms just suck IMNSHO, but from a more practical standpoint, the uber-crunchy-everything-but-the-kitchen-sink mentality could overwhelm a newbie...

    Waldorf!

Damn, I was just looking to see if someone had a transcript of these letters online. Great memories. I am looking forward to seeing Waldorf's character sheet.

Elves and fluff, which elf do you prefer?

My wife was hurt by a Keebler delivery guy while shopping. Thus, I'm introducing Keebler Elves as an enemy for her next time we play Toon.

How important is product presentation in a review?

A minor deal, and I have GURPS and Call of Cthulhu books to prove it. :) Though the cover of the Draconomicon still tempts me.

Do you play more than one character at a time?

Yeah, well, I'm always the little dog. I've been the little dog in every game since I was a toddler in the late 1970s. And I've had many characters, but I am always playing a certain necromancer in at least one game. As for types, I tend to go through phases, where I play a particular class...

    NPCs: Stat Blocks or Backgrounds

This poll/threaad brings to mind something that came to me a few weeks ago. In the Star Wars d20 Galactic Campaign Guide, there's a list of 10 NPCs every GM should have, NPCs like "Man on the Street" and "Air Taxi Driver." What struck me as a good idea would be to have pregenerated stat blocks...

    NPCs: Stat Blocks or Backgrounds

That's what I thought you meant, so I voted for backgrounds. Really, actual backstory for the NPC is the least important. I want something like the seven-sentence NPC, as ColonelHardisson said, then a little more detail on what he knows and how he will direct the story, and something describing...

Which "Races of" sourcebook is best?

Didn't vote. "They all sucked" was not available. I suppose "Stone" sucked less than the others.

    New FAQ: What's different/added?

Woot! He answers my questions at last. Too bad he used the version of awaken undead from Libris Mortis rather than the version from the Spell Compendium, which lacks the quoted sentence. It reads like I have reading comprehension issues instead of using the latest version of the spell.

Speaking in "faux old English" [Poll]

"Ye" is the nominative (subject) form of "you" in Middle English. "Ye" is to "you" as "we" is to "us," for those needing a grammar clarification. I once did a speech in fairly good Late Middle English/Early Modern English (-ende instead of -ing for the gerund, "hine" for the "him" in the...

What are your thought on the Mystic Theurge?

At 50th level, if a character who hit epic levels as Cleric 5/Wizard 5/Mystic Theurge 10 went up as a Mystic Theurge (making him Cleric 5/Wizard 5/Mystic Theurge 40), what he'd have on someone who went Cleric 20/Wizard 20/Mystic Theurge 10 was 5 epic bonus feats. The guy who alternated would...

What are your thought on the Mystic Theurge?

You do? Nothing in there about getting a boost every level until reaching level 20 in each base class. Is there a clarification from WotC somewhere that I (and d20srd.org) am missing?
  18. Lord Rasputin

What are your thought on the Mystic Theurge?

It is? You get a boost to each spellcasting class every other level, rather than every level. Epic bonus feats help you keep up with someone alternating cleric and wizard levels instead, but after 50th level, the alternating wizard/cleric starts to overtake you in epic bonus feats too.

Would you use or allow average damage to speed up gameplay?

A thought ... if you're looking to speed play, why not use average dice for part of the roll? Say, if you're rolling a 10d6 fireball, make it 4d6+21. If you pre-record the dice as such, this should speed play.

Magic of incarnum ir Epic Level Handbook

Epic. Incarnum really should have been a section in Tome of Magic, and frankly, D&D needs another cap system like it needs a return to damage by foe size for weapons. Epic plays like D&D-flavored superheroes, which is a nice change-of-pace. I hate superheroes normally, but epic D&D is always fun.
